I'm wondering how you wean from the swaddle. I have no memory of this with my DS for some reason. Did you just try to go without it one night or nap or did you gradually move an arm out, etc. I tried putting my Natalie down for a nap without it and she wouldn't go to sleep on her own like she usually does. I'm scared to do it loosely b/c I'm afraid they'll get it up over their faces. With my girls starting to roll over, etc I think they are getting close to being done with the swaddling. Its hard to tell if it helps my Alyse or not since she is such a poor sleeper/napper to begin with.

Neither of my twins were much into swaddling but my last LOVED it! So about 3 weeks ago I started moving one arm out at a time and did it very slowly! It worked. I ended with just swaddling his legs and by then he was over it. I have to say that I think he sleeps better unswaddled, so maybe that will help. Good luck! Now if only I could get him to take naps in his crib rather then the swing!

We are in the process of weaning from the swaddle. Right now the twins are swaddled with both arms out. They seem to be doing fine with it. In a couple of weeks I might try no swaddle at all, just pajamas. I don't want them to get too hot now that the warm summer weather is here. We use the Kiddopotamus swaddlers and they never go over their faces. We tried doing one arm out, but the babies usually get the other arm out on their own.

I started with one arm out for a few nights and then both out. They woke up a bit more during the transition because it was like their arms were crazy! Then we just took it away and they did fine. I was so panicked about it because they slept so great swaddled, but it was really not a big deal.

One limb at a time. I freed one arm on Friday, the the other arm the following Friday, it was a few weeks before I freed their legs because it got chilly at night again. My girls were swaddle ADDICTS! We graduated to sleep sacks and they still sleep in them now.

    Good luck!

Mine werent crazy about it. We did 2 arms out for the longest time and then just went cold turkey out of it one night. They had no issues at all with getting rid of it. GL!

one arm out with a sock over the hand for a few days, then both arms out with a sock over both hands for a few days (swaddle just around the middle) then no swaddle at all.

the socks on the hands really made a difference for us. our guys couldn't stop rubbing their faces when they were sleepy, which just made them mad. the socks made them relax.

I just went cold turkey the other night, because my babes kept breaking out of their swaddles anyways. The first night was okay, the only woke once or twice. Last night, however, they squirmed loudly/wiggled at 5,6,7,8,9 and got up around 10 for the day. If they don't do better the next couple nights, I'll be going to babiesrus on saturday to get the bigger swaddleme's!

We did 1 arm out at nap times for a while then into sleep sacks and they sleep so much better now that they are free.

From the beginning both of our boys hated the swaddle. We would wrap them tight and they would scream to be able to get thier hands free. Finally thier doc said to just let them have them and use receiving blankets. Unfortunately, no matter how tight the swaddle, they ended up kicking free of them, so we took them away altogether. Even now they hate to be covered with even a blanket.

I left out there arms from the swaddles for the a few days. I remember they would just move the arms all over the little ones didn't know what to do with them. The first couple of nights were rough but it got better.

Thanks ladies...I don't know why but it seems so hard to me. I guess it's because one of my DDs sleeps so well swaddled up and I panic to think of her not sleeping so well, especially since her sister is up at all hours of the night!!!! I think I ask more questions when I'm sleep deprived...harder to figure things out then!!! :)
