I am 10w6d today and have a hi-bebe doppler. i definately found one baby with a hb of 164 but not sure if i can find the other one. the hb i found was l1.5 inch below and to the left of the belly button but i also hear it straigh under the belly button almost at hair line. in both spots the hb is 160-165...do you think i found both or i am listening to the same baby?

Many people say that you can't effectively find twin heartbeats with dopplers... my peri actually advised me not to get one because I'd either be listening to the same heartbeat twice (and think it two separate ones) or I'd only find one and freak myself out. Either way, at 10 weeks, it's early to hear heartbeats with a doppler. Later in the pregnancy when you know where both babies are, you'll have more luck.

The ob never found both hb's. Just usually one. Which is weird to me since they both ran diff bpm. We could only find them on the u/s's.

My doctor couldn't even find two at my 13 week appt! Had me in a panic. I think it's really hard to do at this point!

I rented a doppler and always knew where my babies were, and the heart rates were always really different. I never had an issue finding them. :)

My OB also never uses a doppler she always does u/s to check HB because she thinks that it is not effective with twins. Maybe once you are further along and the babies are bigger you will have more luck :)

My doctor also advised me not to get a doppler. In the case that I could only find one baby or confuse the two he doesn't want the extra stress that could bring. Infact, he never uses one when we go in for our check-ups. I have mini-ultrasounds.

I rented a Doppler and use it just about daily. I'm a little paranoid. Anyway - early on (I got mine right before 11 weeks) I decided that if I could just find one I was going to feel relieved and move on with my day. I don't have the "counter" (forgive my language I'm really tired) on mine so I just go by sound. I usually listen just long enough to find it and turn it off. I don't want to expose them more than necessary and I really just do it so I can relax. As they've gotten bigger their heartbeats are sounding more different. Some days I have a hard time deciding if I've gotten the same one twice or if they're different but it is easier the further along I get to determine the difference just by sound. One always seems to be faster. My Dr's have never used a Doppler at my appointments. They use an ultrasound every time. I think the general consensus is there is no sure way to tell the difference without the ultrasound. Like I said I just use mine mainly for reassurance.
