How can I keep his BMs regular?

When DS was still in diapers he would have a BM 1-2 times a day (if not more). Now that he is potty trained he holds it in for a few days. Then when he finally does go it stinks horribly. Is there anything I can give him to keep him regular? He is a very picky eater so I can't do much about what he eats.

    TIA for any ideas!

I have been adding a spoonful of oatmeal to DD's yogurt in the morning. This seems to keep her a bit more regular. Blueberries also work for my kids.

    Lots of water!

Small amounts of apple or prune juice.

Lots of fruits and veggies. Smoothies are a great way to sneak a few in if he won't eat them.

    Limit milk/dairy.

If he is really holding it for a couple of days, you might want to talk to the Ped. My kids both had severe constipation because they did not want to poop in the potty. Took several enemas to clean them out and Miralex for a year.

    Best of luck!

I just talked to my ped about this yesterday. He said a tsp of miralax in the morning. Or, to let them have a fiber one bar. I decided to start with the fiber one bar. I did it yesterday and this morning, so we'll see if he goes today without a problem.

I was going to mention the Miralax as well!! I would do SOMETHING!! I am sure he has to be extra crabby as a result of that as well!! (almost typed crappy )

When Aiden was really bad we mixed Benefiber into his milk and juice every day. Now we use Yummi Bears Fiber bears. Aiden loves them and he's had no problems since.

Benefiber in milk works for us. We also got some of that PlumSmart and I give that to them once a day, small glass. Works great and less smelly.

Thanks for that link, I'm going to have to try those.

My DD has had this problem off and on. Our pedi also recommended Miralax once a day. I probably do it every other day or so. She has a clear preference for dairy, which is the root of her problem. Plus, she's little, so our pedi wants her to stay on whole milk at 2 1/2. I finally just decided to take her off of it, though, as I know it was making her problem worse. And you're right, man, do they stiiiiiiiink!
