How can I get Annalise to eat something other than fruit?

Ugh. If I feed her anything other than bananas, pears or applesauce, she makes yuck faces and gags. They've been eating baby food for a month now and I know she eventually has to eat veggies and then protein. So, today I got her to eat 3-4 (rather unhappy) mouthfuls of sweet potatoes after an ounce or so of fruit. Does anyone have suggestions? TIA :) .

Our Ped recommended starting with veggies for that very reason. Fruits taste so good, why eat veggies :)???

My DS Aiden went through a phase where he wouldn't eat green veggies. I'm talking lip pursing, head turning, crying, wouldn't eat them. He KNEW when they were on that spoon, but would open right up for a fruit. It amazed me!

I started putting fruit on the tip of the spoonful of veggies....hiding them, I guess. It ALWAYS worked. He'd look at me like "Hey, that tastes different", but at least he'd open his mouth.

So, I guess my suggestion would be to 'hide' the 'yucky stuff' in the 'good stuff' & see if that works!

This has been a problem from the beginning. I have not been able to get her to eat anything else. I think she is ultra picky. She'll only eat select fruits. Ugh. I will try 'hiding' the veggies. Thanks.

I know many who have mixed them together. Apples and Sweet Potatoes are a common mix!

I had the opposite problem, they loved vege's but were not so sure with fruit.
Really, just keep offering them to her, don't offer anything else. It's really still practice right now. My theory around here is that they are too young to be picky. I have also read that it can take introducing a new food up to 10 times before they will accept it.

This is really great feedback :) . What would you suggest mixing bananas with? How about sweet peas?

Or squash. It doesnt really matter.

Squash is pretty sweet, so maybe it will be a hit. :)

I mixed equal parts of sweet potatoes and applesauce 30 min ago and she did well.

Sweet pot and squash will have to be mixed for now. Eventually I do want to move to sweet peas (to get in a green veggie). Any suggestions on what to mix them with? She loves bananas. What veggie can we mix with these?

Mine loved smashed avocado and bananas together. Start will only a little bit of avocado and work your way to 50/50.

I would also stick with squash and sweet potatoes if they are working for now and then you can gradually go to the green beans and peas.
