How can a team leader actually improve the performance of a sales team?

Managing a small sales team has been more challenging than I expected. Everyone has different strengths, and sometimes it feels like I’m constantly trying to put out fires instead of helping the team grow. Deadlines slip, some leads fall through the cracks, and motivation can drop quickly. I wanted to find a way to give better guidance and make sure everyone was aligned without micromanaging.

Have you ever worked with a mentor or team leader who helped your team improve? I’m curious how much impact structured guidance can really have in day-to-day performance.

A colleague suggested that working with a mentor or experienced leader could really change the way a team functions. After some research, we decided to try guidance from a team leader in sales. They introduced structured strategies for managing client relationships, tracking progress, and setting achievable goals. The mentorship helped our team communicate better, stay organized, and feel more confident in tackling challenges.
