Hi. I am new to this site. I am 18 weeks pregnant with fraternal twins. I have an 8 yo daughter. ALL I have heard is I am not big enough. I feel bigger than I did with my daughter. But I get concerned that something is wrong. I feel the babies flutter. We go 9/9 for the ultrasound?

I wouldn't worry about it, everyone carries a pregnancy differently. Feeling flutters is great!! I'm sure you are fine. :)

 I wouldnt worry. People carry different with each baby and no twin pregnancy is the same either. If you look at all the belly pics, they are different sizes at the same gest. I was freaking huge at 30 weeks but my neighbor was smaller than I at 32 weeks w/twins and we are about the same height an weight to start with. As long as you are eating well and healthy and the doc says your weight is fine, I wouldnt stress about what others say. Dont ya love the flutters?

I was bothered with ppl's comments on how small or big I was, and eventually, I told myself "what the heck, they've never been mother of twins, what do they know?" I think as long as doc says everything's fine, I'm rest assured. Just enjoy the flutter, before it becomes karate kicks!! :D

I agree with pp. Everyone tells me that I am too small to be having twins. I just say "well I am and they are healthy". There's nothing they can say to that other than congrats. As long as you can feel them moving and your doctor tells you that everything is ok, don't worry about what "people" say. Enjoy your twin pregnancy!

Thank you all for responding. I do feel better. I guess it is hard when you have to wait between appoitments. :)

I agree with the pp. Everyone carries differently. I was still in my pre-preg clothes at 20wks! But since then I've really popped and look pregnant. I'd only gained 7lbs by 21wks but all was well. My uturus at 21wks was measuring 27wks!

    Waiting between appts is tough!

I never looked like I was carry twins until the last month or so. I am tall and have a long torso and there was plenty of room for my girlies. Like a pp said, everyone's different. I think some people even thought I was lying about carrying twins.

    Don't worry!! Congratulations!!!!!!!!

I am small....and have been the entire time. My 23 week pic is under sept bellies and I just look small compared to others. Some ppl dont pop till 30 weeks or so, and some women just dont get that big. With my 6 yr old dd, I was small. I looked like how I do now at 7 months and by 9 months looked like some of the moms on here at 25 weeks!
But she was 8.5 so she was still big and she was born at 38 weeks.
So-it doesnt matter as long as babies are the correct size.

like pp said, as long as your doctor is fine with your weight gain - don't worry about what people say. I know that it is hard - but try. I only gained 15lbs my entire pregnancy and my girls were born at 37w 1d at 5lb 14oz and 5lbs 15 oz. No NICU time at all.

Best of luck to you :)

I wouldn't worry about it either. Every pregnancy is different. I didn't measure very large with my twins at first either and no one suspected there was more than one until we saw them at our u/s at 19 weeks. With my singleton, I looked big right away and grew quickly. With this baby, I didn't even really show until over 20 weeks.

I'm 27 weeks and have only gained 16lbs. Everyone keeps telling me how 'small' I am. It's so surprising b/c I gained nearly 80lbs with my 5 year old daughter. My docs aren't considered. You'll pop out. I can still wear some of my non-prego shorts under my belly. I now look like i have a basketball on my tummy, but people still tell me I'm so little. I'm a medium build gal too, so it's quite funny to hear that.

Im smaller then my girlfriend who is having a singleton only a week before me, and she is ALWAYS on my case. I just smile and say, My DOCTOR isn't concerned. Babies are growing big and healthy and Im NOT packing on the pounds (which can be unhealthy). Unless its MY doctor who brings up the "your not big enough" statement, I just let it go in one ear and out the other!!!

    Congrats mama on your twins!!!!

There are no rules as to how big you are or aren't - as long as the babies are growing fine and the doctors are happy, then I'd relax and enjoy it :)

This comment has become one of my pet peeves. People seem to think that if you're having twins you're going to be shockingly enormous right from the start, and if you aren't then you're "too small." I think it's insulting, but maybe it's because I'm trying so hard to be as healthy as possible and grow babies as big as possible to give them the best chances.

When people tell me how small I am, I've started saying "How do you know?!" (Many of these people only know I'm having twins but have no idea how far along I am.) They have no idea how big I "should" be, and it's rude to comment on people's sizes!
