I really want to have the girls start working on feeding themselves (stuff other than finger foods), and I was wondering if there's any way to do it w/out them needing a bath every time?? Every time we have the girls try to feed themselves baby food or anything that isn't completely solid, they end up making a huge mess! It's so much fun to watch them, but they get so messy that it's hard to get them clean w/out hosing them off.

    What do you do??

    Thanks in advance!

Mine are 2.5 and when they self feed they still pretty much need a really good rub down or a bath, LOL You don't have to start learning them to self feed until 18 months. (They should have it down by then). I actually still prefer feeding them myself... much less of a mess!

The mess is horrible, and I don't mind it on them as much as all over the floor. I was actually thinking about getting a vinyl mat to go over my tile. Its a pain to clean and I can't use a swifter on it. The oatmeal is the worst, its like cement.

Funny, DS is better at feeding the girls than himself...less mess on him or them

It's defiinately messy! I strip them down to their diapers and let them go at it!

I haven't figured out a way yet, but I know come summer we're stripping them down to their diapers when they eat!

I think the mess is unaviodable. I always think wow, they ate really well tonight... and then I take them out of the highchairs and most of it is underneath them. I did find these full arm bibs with pockets at the bottom that help reduce the mess but the dog still gets a feast from the floor each meal!

LoL... Okay, so at least I know what I have to look forward to! :) Thanks everyone! We're moving in with my parents this summer (so we can get our debt paid off), so at least their dogs will be getting some extra food!

Maybe I'll see if I can find those bibs that Sharon was talking about.. Thanks again!
