I am trying to eat healthy but its hard! Salads just arnt apealling to me they actually make me more nauseas. I eat yogurt and fruit but it seems like the only things that get into my stomach and stay there are bready solid stuff like big sandwiches or hamburger. I'm about 10 pounds bigger and two months in so I want to keep control of my weight (with my son I gained aabout 75 ibs and I dont want to go through that again!) So I am trying to figure out what else I can eat thats healthy? Cuz I am always starving I mean I am up in the middle of the night eating banana's or cereal

In the 1st trimester nothing really sounded good, so i basically ate whatever i could which didn't end up being very much, I didn't gain any weight during that time..

Once I started to feel better, i ate what i wanted. DH really just wanted me to eat kinda semi healthy, i.e. burgers, fried food, fries, ect only every once in a while...so what I do usually, since i tend to eat out alot i try to just watch what im eating generally.. like ill get soup, or fresh hot sandwhiches, or less processed foods, which is really hard to do for eating out.. I haven't been eating as much fruits and veggies as i should, i am trying to work on this since so far i have gained 28 lbs, i was 15 lbs over weight before getting pregnant so my dr said that she'd like it to be around 35-45 total...(i was gaining 8-10 lbs a month for the last 3 months) So for me i am being more careful with my sweet intake and trying to drink more water instead of juices and milk..

I don't know if that helps any but that is kinda where i stand at least for me...

I never had morning sickness so this may be biased but I just eat normal foods I always eat-we shop at Trader Joes so everything is natural-I do PB and J a lot with whole wheat bread and fruit preserves and I try to do lots of veggies and fruits and try to buy organic but it has been a little hard. I eat spinach salad, tomatoes, apples and pears a lot-I buy raspberries and other berries here and there-
I try to stay away from deli meats though b/c of the nitrates plus they can carry bacteria, and do chicken or something. I also eat eggs a lot-scrambled or hard boiled and put them in salads.
Lets see....no caffeine-maybe every couple days I will have tea-no artificial sweetners-splenda here and there but try not to.
I drink orange juice not from concentrate and lots of water and milk- I don't drink any soda except the ocassional caffeine free coke.
I dont do frozen dinners b/c of the sodium but eat the Trader Joes boxed mac n cheese sometimes :)
Other easy things-spaghetti with ground turkey, homemade soups, grilled cheese, tacos.....
I buy icecream every couple weeks but that is pretty much it for sweets except my Iced Chai from Starbux that I get every few days that I am addicted to!
I don't ever eat fast food either. I just don't like the idea of it so it doesnt appeal to me, plus of course its unhealthy-
I have gained about 40 lbs and am 37 weeks. Its all tummy so I think my diet has been helpful.

During my first trimester, I lived on bagels, cheese, apples, cereal and french fries. I was so sick every day and those were the only things I could keep down. I also drank a lot of MUG root beer. It doesn't have caffienne and helped settle my tummy in the mornings.

Both my OB and my peri agreed that it was important to eat what my body craved. They weren't too concerned about exactly what I was eating until around 20 weeks and even then, would only be concerned if I was gaining a crazy amount of weight. I'm at almost 32 weeks now and have only gained around 20 lbs from my pre-preggers weight.

Oh, and my DH told my peri he was concerned about my diet during a visit and my peri looked him straight in the eye and told him I should be eating whatever I wanted within reason and he was not to say another thing about it. :rotflmbo:

First trimester I lived on pb&j's, hot tea, a few apples and bananas...that was about it. I couldnt' keep anything else down.

Now I am really overweight so I'm trying to watch my weight gain, I'm 24 wks and only at about 15/16 lb gain so I'm happy with that so far. Right now, I eat what I want! lol I just follow my bodies cues tho, i eat when I'm hungry but if I'm not hungry I don't eat. I'm not eating near the calories I "should" be, but apparently I'm eating enough since I'm still gaining weight at a proper pace.

Oh, and we eat out a lot, too much, but I have no energy to cook and dh works 3rd shift and sleeps until noon, so most lunches we eat out.

Ditto this! It might be easier for you to have a more balanced diet as you get into the second trimester. For me it was.
If you do eat bready stuff, try to have whole wheat bread. Would cooked vegetables go down easier? Soups? If you're eating hamburgers, that's good b/c at least you're getting protein and iron!

I'll add, I'm a big fan of Dr. Luke's book, When You're Expecting Twins, Triplets or Quads. I've really tried to follow her nutrition and weight-gain guidelines, and I think it's really helped; my OBs (who actually had different weight gain guidelines in mind for me ;)) have been very pleased by how well I'm holding up at this point in a twin pregnancy, so I think it's working!

    Thanx~
I used to be a fanatic with Jordyn too! I still watch what she eats but am a little less freakish. lol.
I gained more with Jordyn too! I gained 40 with her but my face was fat and I looked horrible. She was 8 lbs 5 oz so the fact that I probably have 13 lbs of baby in me plus all the other fluids and stuff-I obviously gained less.
Buuut I worked at boston market during my pregnancy! I ate mashed potatoes, sweet potatoes, chicken and desserts everyday! lol.
I eat less and definitely not as much starch.
I had gained about 20 lbs too around 28 weeks-then it started to pile on more but the past month my calves, ankles and feet have been swollen.
