i'm desperate here! can't seem to get these girls to sleep through the night! should they have done so by now? what am i doing wrong?
their bedtime is at about 6pm and i dream feed them at about 11pm. If i don't dreamfeed them they will wake up about 12 or 1. Iris still wakes up at about 3:30am to eat.
Is this how it is supposed to be? Is it that Iris needs to eat more? I'm so tired!!
What worked for you? I'm reluctant to cio but would like to hear what you ladies did and when.
    Thanks so much.

Mine didn't sleep through consistently until 7 mos. When the pedi told me they were big enough to skip a nite feeding. When they woke up at 2 for the feeding I just didn't go...they cried for 10 min and have slept through ever since! HTH

My oldest was sleeping 7 to 7 from 3 months onwards, my twin girl now sleeps 6 to 6 since a few days, she's almost 3 months. My girls are very similar in various ways so I am not suprised. My twin boy is in bed by 6 pm and sleeps til 3 am and then a little past 6 (I wake him once I fed my twin girl). My oldest had been consistent from the day she slept through and my girl seems to be doing fine too. I do realize I am very lucky. I tend to "produce" good sleepers. I am not sure whether it helps, but they eat well and were born pretty big.

We just sleep trained my son Cole -- essentially, since I breastfeed, I had my hubby go in an comfort him at his 10p wake up for 2 days -- he cried, but hubby held him and cuddled him back to sleep. After he realized that he was getting no food, he stopped waking up.

On his 12:30a wake up, I just started to ignore his cries and didn't go in. (now his cries were not curdling, just whimpers to get me in there) and now he only wakes between 2 and 4a to eat and then sleeps to 6:30a

This took a total of 1 week to execute -- with a few days of backtracking, but we're pretty sure the 2 wakenings are gone now.

My other son is a different story. We have to do true CIO on him.. which is going to be hard.

I suggest Healthy sleep habits happy child as a book. It is filled with real actionable strategies.

My twins had been sleeping through the night since they were 8 weeks old. The past few weeks, my little girl had started waking up several times during the night. I made the mistake of going in and giving her pacifier to her. Each time it would fall out she would wake up screaming. I was at my wits end so I got my Healthy Sleep habits Happy Child back out and began reading again. I realized that b/c they weren't really on a nap schedule they were actually overtired and not sleeping well at night. I have started with a short morning nap usually around 30 min's to an hour. Then their afternoon nap is about 2 hours. They are so much happier because of this. They are usually in bed between 7 and 7:30 each night and if they do wake up I don't go to them. It took 2 night of crying about 20 min's each time but they are now sleeping through the night and seem so much happier. Hope this helps.
Also I broke the habit of letting them nap anywhere, they are now taking naps in their cribs and they don't fuss at all when I put them down it's great!!!

    Good Luck,
    Sheila

Mine have been sleeping through for about a week now. I think a big part of it is that I let them sleep on their bellies. (I'm not advocating belly-sleeping,but it's working here) They both happen to be thumb-suckers too--they dislike pacifiers! They are pretty much sleeping through 7-7, but occasionally one or the other will wake for a bottle.

With my first set,I went in at their every whimper. They did not sleep through until they were about 8 months old after I did CIO with them. Just goes to show that every child is different. I do follow Healthy Sleep Habits,Happy Child. My older set are excellent sleepers. They sleep 12-13 hours at night, plus an hour nap during the day.

Zackary was sleeping through at 4 months, and pretty much did that on his own.

Jack was more like 5-6 months... he woke a lot for a feeding, he had reflux, and spit up most of his intake so he required a little more than Zack.

All I did was do the exact same schedule every night. Playtime, eating, baths, quiet time... that way they had a routine to go by and knew what to expect.

I was lucky DS1 slept through the night from 6 weeks. The twins started sleeping through the night at 2 1/2 months; they do a 7:30-7:30 stretch. One thing I think that helped is having them sleep in a seperate room from us. Another thing, I noticed your babies are older and can have solids feed the solids to them right before bed might help. HTH!
