My Dr. is not a bed rest fan, he tells me to take it easy but that it is good to be "independent". That said I haven´t had major problems this pregnancy, no BP issues, no swelling, no diabetes...etc., I did have a preventive cerclage al 12 weeks because I have a short cervix, so he keeps telling me I should "help" the cerclage.
I´m really a very active person and I have slowed down a lot, but I still don´t know if I´m overdoing it, KWIM? I´m really scared of pre term labor, but I don´t want to be a potato on the couch!
This morning I went to the mall (I wanted to begin looking for Christmas gifts!) for about an hour and now I´m really, really sore!!! That is beggining to happen when I spen my morning out of the house... So please tell me what is a "normal" day for you girls? I don´t want to regret anything later...

    Thanks,
    Carol

Carol, I think everyone is different in what they can and can't do at this stage of pregnancy. I think if you are sore then it's a sign your body is sending out telling you to slow down {even more} and take it easy. At 29 weeks I was still pretty active, as active as I could be being huge. I was still working full time and my only problem was braxton hicks which weren't too bad if I drank enough.

    Frustrating isn't it?!

Im just about 29 wks too and should be taking it easy but find myself pushing and then pushing a little more. Yesterday I and the kids went out for the needs. We were out about 5-6 hrs running everywhere. I did lots of heavy lefting and tons of walking. By the time we got home I was tired, sore and just done for the day. It's hard when there is no one here to help right now but the kids still need to eat, they still need baths, house work still needs to be done on and on and on lol. All I can do is my best and that is all you can do to. I plan on keeping a close eye on my dr and u/s apts. If there starts to be a big problem I will have to figure somthing else out.

    Good luck.

I've found that I can't do any heavy lifting.... that immediately causes me to have braxton hicks and will ruin the whole day. All I can do is lay around once I make that mistake.

As far as walking around, I've found that I can do pretty good as long as I'm dressed comfortable and have on good shoes. I also make a point of taking breaks. So this morning I went shopping with a girl friend. We hit a few different stores, and I made a point to sit and rest in each one for at least 10 minutes. It makes shopping take longer, but it means you can do stuff. So I would sit while she tried on clothes (mostly for fun so I could sit and relax more!), I would sit while she waited in line to be rung up (and I just gave her my money so she could pay for my stuff while I sat), and then we drove to the further of two choices so I could spend more time just sitting in the car and had lunch from the drive through so I didn't have to get up.

At home, I make myself sit 10 minutes an hour. I can do what I want (as long as I don't feel sore or tired) as far as house work (folding laundry, doing dishes, cleaning counters) as long as I take those 10 minute feet-up breaks. They really help me make it through the day without feeling sore. And I try to alternate standing/harder activities with easier/sitting activities. So I might wash dishes then sit and fold clothes. Then I might dust a room, then sort the mail.

And I don't do several tasks.... they have fallen to my DH and my roommate. I don't ---vaccuum, take out trash (too heavy), clean litter boxes (of course), clean toliets (too much bending), carry laundry baskets to the laundry room (too heavy), change sheets (can't bend and reach because my belly sticks out too far), or do plants/weeds. Otherwise, I'm still doing my own housework for the most part.

And officially, I was on bed rest (full) from 9 weeks to 20 weeks. Then I was moved to house rest with extra feet-up time and no heavy lifting from 20-24. Now I'm on "whatever your body doesn't complain about", no less than 30 minutes of walking a day, and no heavy lifting. I've had no blood pressure issues, no cervix issues, no twin issues.... nothing this pregnancy. But I also make a point to make sure I rest, because I know how nasty those blood pressure problems can be and how fast they sneak up.

Listen to your body. If you are sore, do less and rest more. If you feel good, try more. You are your own best judge of activity.

    Hugs,
    Dominique

I know you've probably heard this a million times...listen to your body...pain was my first clue...I went on a business trip at 29wks, and hurt sooooo bad, just from exhustion (not doing nearly as much as I was used too). Do what you can and rest inbetween...it will get worse...sorry!

I'm like you, I"ve had virtually no issues, I think I might have had 4 bh contractions.

I'm incredibly frustrated of how little I can do right now...wish I would have set up the nursery months ago...cleaning my house takes me TWO days!

In the end it's all worth it...just listen to your body and rest more! If it hurts, rest!

Hang in there, you've passed so many milestones already!
