Ok, so I was on the phone with my mom and was telling that the girls were up last night. They haven't been taking naps very well lately...and didn't get one today. Anyways, I was telling her that the temperature in our house was at 70 and that it is usually at 72.
The girls haven't figured out how to use blankets yet. My mom was saying how the house is too warm. I don't think it is...it feels cold to me. (btw my mom and I live in the same city)

So, is it really that hot in my house...It is in the 40's outside and the girls are in sleepers...I have this fear that they are going to overheat and something bad will happen.

It doesn't sound too warm to me. I keep my house at around 72 to 74 during the day. At night I keep it at 72. My girls sleep at night in pajamas and sleep sacks, for naps I just lay them down in their clothes and no sleep sack.

At night we have the thermostat set to 68*. Any hotter than that, then DH and I can't sleep!!!

Our home is usually about 70 in the winter. If it's drafty I move it up to 73.

The girls sleep at night in pajamas and sleep sacks. We have our thermostat set to 67 at night. I don't sleep well at night if it's too warm in the house.

I've read that people sleep better in a cooler vs. warmer environment (though I think this was in reference to adults, don't know if this applies to toddlers).

I think it depends on the house. Our house is old & drafty, therefore, our thermostat is at 70 all the time. If it gets cold in the morning I will turn it up to 72 for a while. We also have hot water heat, radiators, so the temperature pretty much is even throughout the house. Do your kids sweat? If not don't worry. You could put a vaporizor or humidifier in the house, maybe they are dry.

My house is at 68 during the day and 65 at night. My boys sleep in a fleecy footed jammies with a tshirt underneath. They are getting better at pulling their covers up over them during the night.

I have also read it is better to keep the house cooler than warmer at night for sleeping and for avoiding sickies! As hard as it is to hear, I think your mom is right [IMG]

The temp in our house is a constant debate between DH and I. He LOVES to be so hot he is sweaty when he sleeps, I love it cold. Before my girls where here my APt. was always set at 65 less at night. Now I keep it about 68-70 during the day and 66-68 at night. My girls barely sleep with clothes on but they have double blankets on their beds and rarely cry that they are cold. I was told that its better to have the house cooler than warmer to avoid getting sick. Thats true for me, if I get to hot at night I wake up the next day with the sniffles.

I keep my thermostat at 72. Its in the kitchen where its cooler, so the twins room is cozy at night.

Sounds like the same temp as mine. I don't think the will overheat. They should be fine. We keep our house between 70 and 75 all the time, and it's about the same temp outside here around 40. Should be ok, if you ask me.

Ditto, except our house is set at 68 at night and 69 during the day. It's in the forties or colder here, too. Mine sleep in blanket sleepers and sometimes sleepsacks

We are set at 70 during the day and 65 at night. The boys usually fall asleep without blankets but I go in later and cover them up. They stay that way pretty well anymore.

Our temp is set for 76* but we live in south FL and are obviously used to it being warm. I think my family would freeze in all of your houses!!

THat is what I have my heat set for. I tuck the girls in with a blanket, but before we started to use the crib tents, at least one of them would throw the blanket out of the crib.

Same here too... We do 74 durring the day and 77 at night. I actually get sick if the air is too cold. Even at this temperature, some nights I have to sleep with a scarf around my neck.
