I have been in this bed for 12 hours now. I'm tired. I'm stiff. I can't roll anywhere. My girls don't want to stay on the monitors. My nurses have brought the ultrasound machine to my room 3 times...so far <_< . I know that its hard to find not 1 but 2 babies that are only 24w. They still have so much room to move around. I haven't even had my afternoon nap. i am in an uncomfortable position. I have cuffs on my legs. I am only allowed to get up to use the restroom. I'm on a air mattress to make me more "comfortable." This crap is hot! I only have on my tee, my cuffs, the belts to the monitors and the hospital mesh panties and I'm sweating and I need a shower! I told my night nurse that I was going to take a shower the next time I got up :) She told me her speech so that she could CYA...My neck is starting to get stiff. The laptop is on my boobies leaning on the food table. Wish I had a camera so that you all could see how I look. ok...I think I'm done venting..I might be back next hour.

This might need to be moved to the bedrest area...

Have a nurse check the temperature setting on your air mattress. My father was on one because he was in the hsopital for an extended time before Hospice. Anyway, he kept complaining of being hot and uncomfortable after they added the air mattress. I took a look at the machine that keeps it inflated and there was a temp. setting and it was on the hottest setting! After I adjusted it to cool, he was fine the rest his stay. If your nurses won't check for you, look for yourself when you get up to go to the bathroom. My Dad's nurses didn't even know there was a temp setting!!! They thought is would only adjust the firmness of the mattress. It's worth a try!

     You must be going insane!!!!!! That completely s*cks...At least if they let you take a shower and change you sheets you may feel a bit more comfortable for a little while! on the bright side Congrats on making it past the 24 week milestone :drinks:

Why are they monitoring you for such a long time?

I was on 24 hour monitoring too... It stinks but just remember you are doing what's best. My girls were impossible to stay on the monitors and by the end of the first night I was horribly tired of that icky gel. If you don't mind me asking, why are being monitored? My girls were monoamniotic, hence the monitoring. However, I was allowed to get up in the morning and shower and take short walks to keep my circulation going. If there's no danger in you being up (like you've gone into pre term labor or something) see if they'll let you take a quick shower, you'll feel better! Hang in there!!

I'm in the hospital until I deliver due to Pre-e. Well during the 20 minute monitor of the babies, baby B had a d-cell; so the mfm wanted to go ahead and do a 24hr monitor to see if it was just a random thing or something else.

I stayed on the monitors except for about 45 minutes when I took my shower and the nurse changed my linen then was right back on. at about 2 am the night nurse came in and asked if I wanted an ambien, that it would make me sleep and relax me. I told her that I was a wild sleeper and that I think I could make it...it was almost over, I just had 6 hours left. I took it anyway, she was bothering me...and at 630 she came and said that it was enough and that we could go ahead and get off. Well, she told the day nurse that I "refused" to stay on the monitor and told herr to take them off. Lies I tell you, lies! I only had an hour and a half left, why would I do something like that? and take the chance of the doc coming in and saying that he needed a full 24 hours. So, the day nurse heard my side of the story, called the docs to explain what happened and then filed a report on the night nurse....I'm not here to cause any trouble, I just want my girls safe....

What is it about night nurses? I was in the hospital for about 28 hours a couple of weeks ago, due to incrased contractions and shortening cervix. I was there for 4 shifts of nurses-- 3 of which were absolutely awesome. But the night one was just mean. Any time I'd move she'd roll her eyes or admonish me if the babies ever fell off the monitors (even though it wasn't exactly necessary to be monitoring them for every single second-- it was the contrax we were mainly worried about), everything seemed to be a personal affront to her. She didn't have a single positive things to say the whole time. And the one thing I asked for, an antacid, she brought over 4 hours later. But seriously the other nurses were so nice adn supportive.
