My guys are just over 8 months and are around 20ish lbs. I have the Baby Bjorn but it KILLS my back. They are getting a little heavy for me to carry but they want to be held quite a bit. Is it worth getting a Hotsling or will they grow out of it too soon to be worth it? Any other recommendations?

We use the baby bjorn and really it's only DH that uses it. I don't have any suggestions, I never found a sling that was more convenient than just holding them.

GL though, maybe someone else will have some good info.

I believe you can use a Hotsling until they are 35 pounds. When I got one for the boys a year or so ago, I put my then 3 YO DD in it too. Only because she wanted to try it. It was fine, so I think you would be fine.

Gosh, I have a hotsling and a maya wrap and I would think a Maya wrap would be nicer on the back! Just a thought.

This is amazing, I have ring slings, pouches and wraps and I am by far loving my Ergo more these days.

I used my Hotsling with my ODD until she was about 18 months old with the hip carry (and she was 24 lbs at a year and 95% for height). She didn't start walking until 15 months, so it was a lifesaver for me! One of my twinolas is 5 months and almost 20lbs, and I already use the sling on the hip for her. I've heard people doing one on each hip in a sling, so thats my next experiment since they will both be out of infant carriers soon! I would definitely say give it a try! I hated the baby bjorn for that same reason. I had a wrap too, but once I can do the hip carry it is so much easier to throw a sling on then put a wrap or anything else on!

Per the instructions the hotsling is okay up to 35lbs. My 18 pounder is comfortable in it in a hip carry. Although like anything else I am sure it would start to be uncomfortable after a while. I have other slings/wraps/carriers which can be more comfortable to carry them all day, but can't beat the hotslings or slingings for convenience to get them thrown on an in it in literally seconds no matter where we are.

I loved a sling for having a child on my hip. It gives you that extra hand.
