So hurrah we had our first, and hopefully final, practice dash to the hospital last night.
Went to bed last night at about midnight with a bit of a headache, but decided not to take anything and just let sleep get rid of the headache. Woke up at about 4.30am for my usual trip to the loo and my headache had got much worse. Went to the loo, took some painkillers and then tried to go back to sleep, but kept thinking about what the signs of pre-eclampsia are i.e. a headache that won't go away, and stupidly I googled Oodema as my midwife told me I had some on the bottom of my bump. Stupid google told me that it could be sign of pre-eclampsia so of course that added to my worrying and my headache just got worse and worse.
Decided after about 20 mins of trying to go to sleep that I should ring and see what the midwifes at the hospital thought, hoping that they'd tell me I was being stupid and to give the painkillers a chance to work. Explained to the midwife on the phone my symptoms and she said that if i'd been worried enough to ring it would be worth getting checked over, and after checking with another midwife they both agreed that I should come in.
So I hung up and woke up the husband (very funny eh? ehhhh? from him) grabbed the last few bits for my hospital bag and off we went. Got there at about 5.30 / 6am and they checked my blood pressure, urine for protein and listened in to the babies heartbeats and everything was fine, and by that point the pain killers had kicked in and my headache had disappeared by the time we'd been checked over. The midwives and doctors were amazing and so lovely. They kept telling me that they had nothing else to do at that time in the morning anyways and the doctor said he'd rather have 100 people come in with no problems than 1 that stays at home who does have a problem. They were all so amazing, and the hubby was great too.
So the moral of the story is if you are worried you have a right to be, and just go in and get checked!! Very bizarre sitting there thinking that the babies could be here in a few hours though... just wish that time would go quicker now though, and yeah i'll be regretting saying that once they're here and I haven't slept for ages but I want to meet them!!
So I hope that helps anyone who thinks they might be freaking out for no reason, because at the end of the day they are your babies and it's better to be checked than not...

At least you didn't ignore the headache. You did the right thing.
I think if the headache comes along with blurred vision is more of a serious sign.
    Take good care.

I had a middle of the night run to the hospital not too long ago, as well, so I know how it goes. Good thing you did go and I am glad all turned out to be just fine!!!
