I don't know if this is the right board. I might post it in the first years board as well. I was curious for those that ended up on hospital bed-rest how long did you stay in the hospital?
Did you ever get to go home? What were the conditions? When did you end up delivering?

My dr said that he might think about letting me go home at 34 weeks which is two weeks from now. If there was a weeping face icon I would post it. I've been here a week and a half now and I haven't dilated anymore. My contractions have pretty much stopped. No leaking... no Blood ... blood pressure and heart rates for me are great. The babies are great. I barely even have a nurse check in on me anymore. I only get monitored twice a day now. Vitals 3 to 4 times a day. I don't know why I am here anymore besides the fact hat I have dilated to 4/5.
The only reason my dr gave me today was because I have dilated. I can sit in a bed at home and do this for two weeks. UGH!

I just got home from the hospital on Sunday. That was when they said I was 34 weeks too. I wasn't sure why they made me stay more than 2 or 3 days because my contractions were under control by then, but they said I had to be there till I hit 34 weeks and I couldn't have dilated anymore. My cervix actually went from a 3 1/2 to a 2 1/2. I still haven't delivered because of the medication I'm on now, but my last day of that is this Sunday and they think I will go really soon after that. Hope your time goes fast.

I was on hospital bedrest from 24-25 weeks, and then from 28-32 weeks. It was rough, especially during the latter half of my second stay because NOTHING had changed. Like you, I felt that they were barely even checking on me. BUT, I trusted my doc that the hospital was the safest place for me to be. And that God forbid I happened to go into labor too soon, they would be able to do everything in their power to slow down the inevitable.

My doctor ended up sending me home at 32 weeks, under the condition that my insurance pay for home uterine monitoring. I had a nurse come check on me twice a week, and give me NSTs, shots, and do a little check up. Then I had to monitor contractions with a home uterine monitor twice a day, and send my "results" via a fax-like device to a nurses station.

I delivered two healthy babies at 34w4d.

I know how hard it is to be at the hospital. My heart goes out to you!!! But trust me, one day you will be sitting there with your precious girls chatting and putting together a real puzzle (we are currently working on a 24-peicer at the moment) and you will ask yourself, "Where does these KIDS suddenly appear from?" The whole thing will be a distant memory!!!!!!!!!!!!! It just goes so fast, and it will be worth every moment spent biding your time there!!!!!

I was on hospital bedrest from 24-28 weeks. Nothing changed that entire time, so they let me go home at 28 weeks. But I had a cerclage in place and was not dialated at all when they sent me home.

Three weeks later I was back in, contracting, and dialated 1cm. They were not letting me go at that point, and I actually delivered 48 hours later.

It is so hard to be in the hospital, but it is way, way better than your babies being in the NICU. Hang in there as long as you can.

I'm sure it's really difficult...and if you were only at a 3 I might agree with you on why should they have you in there. But anything after 4 is technically considered active labor. They really can't send you home dilated that far and still being early yet. Hang in there.

I just wanted to quickly add that I am on no meds. Everything they gave me made me worse so they decided to stop them all and see what happened. If labor comes they won't stop it.

I have been on hospital bedrest fro 5.5 weeks - only 2 more weeks to go. This sucks...anyhow. QUOTE(evieand4kids @ Mar 12 2008, 11:59 AM)
I have requested my vitals only be taken one time a day - there are no problems - 110/60 everytime and temp the same....no need - I would request that if you have no problems either. I miss my family...and since I am on 24/7 monitoring this is not fun. wish I would get up and walk around.

I went in at 30 weeks and stayed until i delivered at 36 weeks. it was terrible because the hospital was like 40 minutes from my house and it got to the point that i took a shower and wore my own clothes and pretty much did whatever i wanted, i just couldnt leave the room. i was so frustrated because i didnt understand why i was there--i could have done all the same stuff at home!! i cried a lot!! it WILL get better! pretty soon it will be a distant memory!!
