I am pretty sure that I am going to have a c-section and was wondering about the clothing I need for my hospital bag. I know I need some hi-cut underwear and clothing to wear home and around the hospital, should I buy maternity sizes or just large in women's? I know I will still have a pregnancy stomach. I am also thinking about the first couple weeks home.

    Any suggestions?

the one thing i did that made all the difference in recovery the 2nd time around was to buy the maternity HIGH CUT briefs from motherhood maternity for after they were born. I learned my lesson the first time when i tried to wear my thongs... lol... yeah it didn't work out too well and hurt like hell. I also wore goucho's almost the whole pregnancy and even after because they were so comfy and easy on my stomach. I think you can find them at oldnavy.com. Old Navy gouchos

They gave me these gauze underwear at the hospital and they were FANTASTIC and I even got to take a couple of pairs home! I would say hi cut brieft and some sweat/stretchy pants like pp said gouchos are great! I also brought an oversized night gown for the hospital and used their gown on top of that when I went for my walk. I also had the gown and oversized shirts for home so I could breastfeed and be comfortable.

I would go for maternity clothes for the first few weeks. You will be so much more comfy. I tried the "bigger clothes " with my first baby and it did not work out so well...lol! Your body is just not the same for a while...it does go back to normal though, it just takes a while.

I was really swollen after my section. My babies are 1 month now and some of my normal clothes are just now starting to fit. Just to give you an idea...hope this helps!

    Good luck!

I wore second trimester clothes at and home from the hospital. You know, all the cute preggy stuff that I outgrew and had to wear tents for the last two months! At home, I wore anything that was nice and stretchy or loose. Any direct pressure on the incision was painful or uncomfortable for months.

At the hospital I wore the gown and their stretchy undies for the first two days... then I just wore maternity clothes (big sweatpants and high cut maternity undies) the last 2 days. Since being home I'm doing the same... It's only been 11 days since I delivered and I feel like the incredibly shrinking woman...I have lost 35 lbs... so don't buy a bunch of "in-between" clothes!!!

I agree w/ the others ~ I wore my maternity sweat suits right after along with the hospital net/gauze undies for the first few days :good: They worked best with the GIANT pads that they send you home with :)
After that I wore gigantic undies from Target....they were soooo comfortable! I remember sending my MIL to Target & telling to get the biggest cotton undies she could find
