    Hello,
I have read that while recovering from the C-section in the hospital wearing the mesh underwear and hospital gowns is good- so that if they get bloody or dirty- you aren't ruining your own clothes. However, if nursing- how do you "keep decent" and still nurse in a gown from the hospital? Did you bring other things to wear? What worked for you? Any advice would be appreciated.
    Thanks!

I just wore the hospital gown. They have special ones for nursing moms that snap down to expose.

I also used the nursing gowns from the hospital. And when I was up and roaming the halls I would put on a robe and slippers.

My sister had bought me a nursing nightgown from Kohls. It was nice to wear in the hospital. I actually wore it for a few months after coming home (even though I didnot end up nursing)

I have had two c-sections now, and a third will come in March sometime - but honestly - when you are on that many drugs, and recovering, keeping decent is the last thing on your mind. (At least the last thing that was on my mind) I was more concerned about nursing my kids, and resting to gain strength - but my Mom did bring me nightgowns....It is nice after a couple of days to not be in the hospital gowns.

I wore the hospital gowns for the first two days and then I wore shorts and tees during the day and their gowns at night.

I got some really big mens vneck tshirts, they are easy to lift and you can wear one under your gown if you choose, though the tank tops are even better for that.
You can also cut a large slit across the bottom under the breasts so you don't have to lift the shirt up all the way.
I couldn't do the mesh panties, they have latex in them and I am allergic! So I did my own panties and comfy yoga pants.

I wore nursing tank tops (they have some nice cheap ones at Target) and a button down shirt over the the top. With some yoga pants I was very comfy, was covered and was able to pump/attempt nursing without being totally exposed.

I brought a whole bunch of stuff and wore none of it. I pretty much stayed in the gown and pretty mesh panties the whole time. I was glad to have my own bath robe from home and slippers. I wore a night time nursing bra under my gown. It was from Motherhood and it was very comfortable, I didn't even feel like I was wearing one. Like pp said I was trying to learn how to nurse twins, I wasn't too concerned about keeping decent. I just kicked any of my male visitors out or my room had a recliner that I could pull the curtain shut in front of. Good Luck and make sure you relax while in the hospital. It is nice after a couple of days to return to human and change into some normal clothes so I would just bring some comfy sweats and maybe a nursing tank and sweatshirt.

I took my nursing bras and it came in handy. The hospital I had my boys at offered a special gown for mothers who nurse. They have 2 slits in the top of the gown. I would ask if they had something like that at your hospital. It was a lot easier then lifting the entire gown to nurse. Good Luck!

The first day I wore the mesh panties and hospital gown. The next day I started weraing some giant panties my mom got me. They were so much more comfy. I loved my hospital gown though. After a couple of days though I started dressing in my own clothes as I hated feeling like a patient. I was not sick and I felt great. I wanted to look good as well!

I wore the hospital gown and the mesh panties the entire time I was in the hospital. I thought it was easiest. I would put my robe on if I was going for a walk or to the bathroom. If you are having a c-section, depending on what kind of underwear you normally wear, you might have to buy something different that won't sit on your incision. I bought some big granny panties, but hated them and just ended up wearing my stretched out underwear from when I was pregnant. I didn't breastfeed, but a friend of mine was given a Hootter Hider (that is what she calls it and I think it is the name). It is just a large draping cloth that has a neckline she can slip on. She used it in the hospital and continues to use it and loves it for breastfeeding in more public places.

I hate hospital gowns! It will be nursing tanks and yoga pants for me in the hospital as soon as I'm able to be up and get showered and dressed!

I just wore the gown and mesh undies. When I'd go to the NICU to see the boys, I'd wear another gown around backwards as an additional cover. But the gowns snapped at the shoulders, so it was easy to pump/nurse. And after my c/s, the mesh undies were better w/ all the bandaging and the huge elastic binding they give you.

My advice : BRING A BUTTON UP SWEATER! It gets sooo cold sometimes in the hospital rooms, especially if you are sharing with someone who is on morphine and gets hot quick. this way you can just botton down when you need the twins out and it keeps you warm and cozy. Also I used a very soft bathrobe, I found it so comforting during recovery and I managed to keep it clean for the most part. HTH
