    hi all,

I was just wondering if anybody had a similar story, if yes, what was OB's decision, workwise, bedrest wise, etc. how did it affect you?

we had a scare yesterday, arrived at the office with sharp cramps, my whole front belly and also in the back, it was like when I used to have very bad period cramps. after lying 1 hour on my boss' couch, I called my OB, she said to go home and if it does not get better while laying down, go directly to Emergency room, which we did.
I was so scared and cried, of pain and fear...we got a bed in the recovery room right away and DH wheeled me in there like a pro.
they first monitored both heart beats, which the nurse was able to find right away and it was all good. then she hooked me up with a belt to measure the cramps which turned out to be mild contractions.
so I was given a drug/shot to relax those and uterus and then they monitored me for another couple hours there to see it going down. they also check my pelvix, it was nice closed and firm, which is very good.
I was lucky and my OB was right there (she had to deliver some babies!), it was good we went in. doc said with twins, we might end up in there a couple times more before delivering.

so even though I take it real easy, apparently not enough, since we left hospital yesterday afternoon, I am on bedrest until my OB appt this thursday morning, then she'll decide what we do, maybe changing from full-time to part-time, or so fine with me!

well we're just glad all is good, they said it was nothing I did, it just happens, it's 2 babies and they are pretty low and pushing down, so it does happen, good thing our hospital is only 5 min away!

so the pain is gone now and I am just resting, will update more after thursday appt.

    take care all,
    alexa

That sounds like a good plan of action, bedrest and evaluate at your next coming appt. Yes, keep drinking a lot of liquids!! That might help ward off any contractions!! :hug99: I"m glad everything turned out alright this time! Keep the faith!

So do like they tell you...take it real easy....I am now 26 weeks! So we are doing great....I am still on mostly bed rest....but not on any meds! and I am in the comfort of my home.

Take care, we are all here for you!

Take it very easy!! I was in the hospital at 19 weeks with contractions also. Brethine stopped them, I came home. I ended up in L&D again for 4 days and just got home yest. after Mag and I'm now on Procardia and bedrest. I'm 1cm and 50% and very thankful it wasn't worse!! Drink tons of water, rest when you can and if cutting back at work is an option- Do it!

:hug99: Hang in there! It sounds like your OB is super supportive, which is going to help you so much over the course of your pregnancy. Glad that everything turned out okay, and do take it easy!

I haven't posted in this forum for a few months. :) But thought you and I had very similar stories, so I thought I would share mine with you. I started having braxton hicks pretty early with the twins. But on my way to an OB appt when I was 20 wks, I started having real contractions w/ a bachache. The OB sent me to triage to be monitored. I turned out that I was having contractions every 2-3 mins. I was given a few shots but they only slowed. I ended on bedrest for the rest of my pg. At 26 wks I went to L&D for preterm labor again and was put on MAG. YUCK!! But it worked. I was sent home that time with terbutaline for the rest of the pg. But with a fast heartrate I could only take it sporadically. I ended up for the last time in L&D and 33 wks 6 days and had the boys after arriving 2 hrs earlier by c/s. The bedrest took me another 14 wks into the pg and saved my babies!!!! They were only in the NICU for 14 days.

It's really good that your still closed. I hope the rest of your pg is uneventful. You can have a great outcome!!! We did! But take it easy and do everything the Doc says ;) .

    hi all -

thanks for all your support, thanks Beth for the forward link too to your responses...gladly my situation is far from being as 'advanced' or complicated and medicated than others.

I do take the bedrest and drinking fluids advice from my docs and you guys!

to a healthy pregnancy for all of us!

Well done on getting thru a very scary day, please keep us updated, and once again so glad you and your babies are ok. :)
