So, dh was out of town (which is a normal occurence around here but...), my two year old was sick and tantruming because he missed his daddy, Evie was diagnosed with RSV and ANnalise is teething. I have been giving breathing treatments to Evie round the clock. Putting Aidan in time out constantly and trying to ease Annalise's discomfort. Evie has been throwing up after nearly every feeding so I have been nursing her at every chance to keep her hydrated which has been pretty much every 2 hours at least around the clock. She is just pitiful when she is sick and I feel so bad for her since she doesn't really understand! Aidan was up one night crying uncontrollably until midnight (seriously didn't know what to do then finally gave him benadryl-great parenting, huh?) because he missed dh and then got overtired and spiraled.

So, I thought the week couldn't possibly get any worse. Then Friday night Evie's temp went up to 104.4 which was really scary. I can not begin to describe my panic, worry and confusion of how to handle this especially with the other two during all this! The oncall doctor decided I didn't need to bring her in under certain circumstances (Fever had to be controlled with tylenol and kept at 100 or below, couldn't be inconsolable, and so on)...then I decided to call my neighbor who is a pediatrician :) So she came over and listened to her lungs, checked her ears and eased my mind. We had to go in Saturday and the doctor on call was my neighbor :) She had to flush her ears so they could see in (EEK! I had this done as a child...painful) to rule out an ear infection. Unfortunately, they were unable to see much due to small canals but saw enough and ruled out an ear infection. Now we are just watching for fever, doing breathing treatments and watching her breathing.

We go back to the doctor tomorrow for a re-check. Dh returned home late last night. I feel relieved but noticed Annalise has a runny nose and cough now.....ahhhhhh
Thanks for letting me vent, whine, etc.!!

Wow you are really super woman!! I'm so sorry your little one is sick. I'm home alone right now with my two and its only been 3 days and I'm about to cry thinking about having to do it all by myself for at least another week... and my kids aren't sick. :hug99: to your sick little one and I hope her sister doesn't get it.

You are amazing! That is ROUGH! I hope the gang gets better soon, and that you get some relief from 24 hour nurse/mom duties soon. When does your dh come home? You are my hero.

    Thanks!!
We just got back from the doctor. Annalise has RSV and Evie has an ear infection on top of the RSV. FUN FUN FUN!!!!!!!!I don't know who was up when but know that I was up and down all night long. Annalise had a fever, Evie was just cranky and so on! WOW!

I will survive...so what if I have people coming into town in 4 days, my house looks like someone threw up clothes (a bit behind on folding laundry) and toys...who cares, right???

You are NOT whining; you ARE AMAZING. Seriously, in a little while you'll get to step back and appreciate what you've been contendng with. AND w/DH gone. I'm sorry it's been so intense and frightening; teh RSV is bad enough but an ear infection on top of it!

I would say that now would be a good time to call in any help/support you can get; even a couple of hours for a little break. As for the house; funny how what used to be important no longer is. Your visitors will understand (nad hopefully pitch in!) and if not - well, who cares!

(we had friends over for brunch last week (which they brought, to my formerly totally in control martha stewart - at least as far as food was concerned! house). I said to DH "see how much has changed, idon't CARE that the place looks like the BRU truck exploded and that there is laundry all over the place. Priorities, priorities.

Way to go, superwoman! Hope they all feel better soon.

Wow-- you are truly an amazing woman! I felt like I was going to die when I spent one week alone and sick with my boys at 5 weeks old. Your week was a million times worse. I sincerely admire you!!
