So this morning I got a nosebleed that was really bad and I couldn't get it stopped...at the 45 min. mark we called my OB and the nurse suggested I go right in to the walk-in clinic...

After 10 minutes getting my vitals and checking and double checking my information the nurse asks, "We ask this of all women. You aren't pregnant or breastfeeding are you?" Ummmm...if you see my ticker below, I am 32 weeks with twins!!?!?!?!?!? How on earth could they have missed that as I hobbled through the door???? And, really...I don't think I'd go in to a doctor for a nosebleed unless I was pregnant...

The doctor came in and had me lie flat on my back and he put some gauze way up in my nose and said he'd be back after my bloodwork was done. Thankfully a nurse asked me if I wanted my Mom to come join me (I wanted a witness to this) .... I was in there alone for nearly an hour (and the last direction I was given was to lie on my back). Well, needless to say I switched over to my side after about 20 minutes...I couldn't stand it!!! Both the swallowing of blood AND simply lying on my back with the weight of the babies...ugh!!!

The dr. eventually came back and said my tests were fine and that I needed to keep the gauze in for 24 hours and come back and they'd take it out. NO THANK YOU. I see my OB tomorrow and have an NST scheduled, thank goodness... I have serious doubts as to whether this doctor knew I was pregnant. Seriously.

I am still crabby about it.... and can't wait for my appt. tomorrow so that I can give my feedback to anyone who will listen...

That is Crazy!! I am so sorry you had such a bad experience. At least you have an appt to see your regular Dr tomorrow! Hopefully he/she can give you some better insight.

I had a similiar experience. I was 12 weeks, and got really sick with pneumonia and my doc told me to go to the minor emergency. So I am with the triage nurse, and I had filled out the section of the paper work that asked about "other medical issues" and I had put 12 weeks pregnant with twins. The triage nurse read it and said "Okay so tell me about this other medical issue." I responded with "I am 12 weeks pregnant with twins." HE looked at me and said "okay, are there any mental health issues I need to know about?" I almost got up and walked out.

By the time I got to the doctor, he was talking doing an x-ray and my husband and I both said questioned this becuase of the babies. So when we mentioned "what about the babies" the doc said "are you pregnant?" I said "12 weeks with twins" and he then preceeded to asked me "how do you know this and how do you that they are twins?" Really, a doctor ( and a nurse) should know the answer better than me!!!!!

I have gotten some pretty dumb questions about the twins, but these....take the cake. Just had to share. :)

What a dumbass of a dr! Even if you werent obviously pregnant, they totally handled the bloody nose aspect horribly too! Coming from someone that had massive problems with them growing up, putting someone on their back or tipping their head back is the LAST thing you want to do, too much blood goes down your throat and into your stomach which can cause all sorts of problems. So sorry you had such an awful experience! Some drs & nurses seriously make me wonder how they got into the field in the first place. When i broke my finger in half and it was literally pointing at a 90 degree angle, black, and swollen, one nurse asked me where i was hurting and another asked if my finger normally pointed in that direction.

The only thing I can do is  at the stupidity of that doctor!! Did you ask when his last eye exam was? Holy cow, 32 weeks!!! That's just laughable!!!! Either that or cry!

How funny. Some dr's are just plain dumb sometimes. I had to go to the eye dr the other day bc I have pink eye <_< and the dr was explaining what I had and said "well here are your options... Wait.. are you pregnant??" I am 33 weeks I am DEFINATELY looking pregnant!! I looked at him and was like are you serious?
    Haha just had to share!

Ha! I love this forum...thanks for all of the replies! Nice to know (in some ways) that I'm not alone :)

Today I had to go to L&D for a steroid shot and it felt so wonderful to be around docs and nurses "in the know".... :) I think I'll stick with them for the duration!
