Horrible Morning Sickness - getting worse!

Granted, I was sick during my entire PG with my son. Only a few month gave me rest. However, I stupidly thought my morning sickness wouldn't be getting worse - maybe just stay the same. Nope. No such luck. Not only is it getting worse, but the Zofran is NOT working anymore.

I have dry heaves every few hours - about 25% of the time I actually am throwing up food. In fact, I give it about 10 minutes at most right now and I know I will be in the bathroom with head over the toilet.

I honestly don't know what to do other than drink lots of liquid to make the upchucking easier. I've tried eating to keep it at bay - doesn't work anymore. I've tried all kinds of things - and I still have this awful urge to dry heave (at least).

I don't know if I am looking for advice or if I am just whining. DH tells me I need to tell the doc but I swear she loves to give drugs and it wouldn't surprise me if she wanted to give me a Zofran pump and I am NOT going to do that. The idea of a pic line in my body, opening me up to infection and Lord knows what else isn't for me. UGH!

I'm sorry momma! Mine was pretty bad as well, to the point where I would get bloody noses- yuck!
I started mentally kicking my "morning" sickness in the ***. Meditation is the only thing that worked for me- and then one day it just stopped.

I hope you feel better and that this sickness is short lived!
And whine away- that is what we are here for!

Please whine away… I was posting similar at 11-12 weeks… I was lucky with my son it went away at 12 weeks, and I foolishly thought it would with the twins…but it got worse… not to scare you (as it did me when I got some reply’s) but mine didn’t go away until 16 w… and I faint when I throw up… and towards the end I was having convolutions while “out”… all I could do was lay there and eat what ever I could (sometime I would only get sport drinks down)…
I hope you feel better… I tried coffee (because the headaches I was getting) and it oddly helped (didn’t cure 100%) my m/s. I know that sounds disgusting when your sick, but I gave it a try and it helped… I even posted it on here (about it being a cure) and few moms had luck with it as well (or a coke would help them, it was the caffeine)
    I hope you feel better :hug99: …

UGH!! :hug99: That is just the worst. I had it all day throughout my entire pregnancy so I sure can relate to how you are feeling. No advice here, just big fat :hug99: because I KNOW it's tough.

I had the same thing happen to me. I was sick from 6 weeks on, but not throwing up. Then, around 10-11 weeks it got really bad and I started throwing up. I tried Phenegran and that just made me drowsy. Then, my dr. put me on Zofran. That helped at first, but I feel like it's not working like it used to. Maybe our bodies get used to it. I was throwing up at the beginning of last week, but haven't since Thur. I'm praying that it's getting better and not a cruel joke. My dr. said most women feel relief between 13-16 weeks. I'm praying she is right. I keep wondering if I'll be one of those women who is sick their entire pregnancy. Just wanted to let you know that you aren't the only one going through it. I feel like I've learned to cope with it somehow. Some days are better than others. There are days that I don't think I can take it anymore and somehow I make it through. I'd give you advice as to what to eat or drink, but it changes daily for me. One week, I can eat something and the next I can't even look at it. Just try to keep the fluids down and eat whatever you can. I know what you mean about eating not helping. That's how I was around 10-11 weeks. Nothing I did helped. That's how I knew I needed the meds for it. I would talk to your dr. about it. Maybe there is a different medication you can try. I know that Zofran doesn't work for everyone. I don't think she'll suggest the Zofran pump just yet. You are only 10 weeks and it's very common to be this sick. Lots of women lose weight the first trimester. I'm praying for both of us that it gets better.

Thanks ladies. I know how mind-over-matter can work with puking - it worked some of the times when I was PG with my DS. However now, my gag reflex is just so sensitive that it just doesn't work. I've had my tonsils out since my last PG and maybe that is why I dry heave so much.

I am just trying to drink as much liquids as I can stand. Thing is, too much water makes me ill. But last week we had some canned Mountain Dews left over from a party and I was CRAVING one and drank it. It did make me feel better but I am really trying not to get hooked back on caffiene right now because I was a heavy coffee drinker and I gave it up right before I got pregnant - thinking it might help. Go figure!

I read this and had all the memories of those first few months flood back. I'm so sorry. :hug99: I couldn't eat my first trimester, literally was on a liquid diet. Prenatal vitamins were a joke b/c all I could keep down were flintstones but not the red ones! I didn't take medication basically b/c I was scared to even take a tylonel and my doc told me to wait it out. But as soon as I hit 13 weeks, right into my 2nd trimester, it went away. Just one day I woke up and felt great, went shopping and ate all the dessert I could. Just know it will go away, hopefully sooner than later. Don't worry if you are losing weight (that's what my doctor said b/c I lost 7 pounds first trimester) Hang it there!

:hug99: I am SO sorry. I understand how you are feeling. One day at about 5 1/2 weeks I just woke up so so sick and it just kept getting worse. I was popping blood veins in my face and eyes I was throwing up so bad and so much. I cant tell you how many times I cried because I felt so bad. My Dr ran a blood test and turns out I have a blood disease, my body doesnt absorb iron, potasium, folic acid or any vitamin B. He said this was the main cause of my M/S. He gave me a new prenatal that has active forms of someo fthe vitamins I need and also a medication to take to help with the sickness. Within a week I started feeling better and now I am only throwing up every couple of days. I still havent put weight on but the baby is definalty growing. I hope you are able to find some sort of relief. I really do feel for you!

Sorry to hear you are feeling so bad. I drank lots of gatoraid, the rain kind, not as thick as regular gatoraid, found I held it down a bit better than water.

I am sorry you are having such a hard time. I wasn't really sick with my other two children, my DS more than my DD, but even when I was it was nothing compared with how sick I have been with this pregnancy. My m/s was so bad the first trimester and after that I couldn't move without feeling like that. You could try the wrist bands for motion sickness, real ginger candy or ginger snaps, they also have special ginger candies for pregnant women, ginger ale may help, peppermint tea has been known to help. I didn't throw up until later in my pregnancy but I felt like it every second and did several times. I have thrown up more the second trimester and have found if I don't control my reflux, that is when I usually throw up. Also be careful when brushing your teeth. It does get better, mine has not gone away completely, it comes in waves still, but I can make it through part of the day without feeling so sick. I have also heard that when you are sick it means that your pregnancy is progressing well, it has to do with the rising levels of hormones as the babies develop. Good luck.

I was sick from week 6 until week 14 (last week). I threw up 3-4 times a day, a couple of times so violently that I burst blood vessels in my eyeballs. I lost 8 pounds. I couldn't drink anything - even plain water made me sick - except orange juice (go figure, all that acid) and ice-cold milk. There were very few foods that I could stomach.

I am slowly getting back to "normal." I still have a really strong gag reflex. Even blowing my nose sometimes makes me dry heave. But I am able to drink again and haven't thrown up in a week. I do have a slight nauseous feeling throughout the day, but if I keep snacking I can keep it minimal. I can't let myself get completely "hungry" or the nausea really rages.

    Good luck to you.

I'm so sorry. I had such a horrible time with m/s, I do know how you feel. There was a time that it was so bad, so terribly bad, that I didn't care what happend to the pregnancy. I remember it getting unbearable at 11 wks and finally Rx Zofran. I didn't find that it helped much at all, but it helped more if I had it consistently in my system.

Things did improve a bit after 20 weeks, but I did take Zofran for the entire pregnancy.

    ((((((hugs)))))))

I know just how you feel!

Meds were the only thing that helped me!! I had zofran, but no pump. I've never even heard of that! Mine dissolved in my mouth and were a life saver.

    hang in there!

I know just what you're going through. I am a little over twelve weeks and the morning sickness has taken over. It has been worse this last week with vomiting at least three time a day. I get so worried about the babies getting there nutrients as I can barely hold down anything. I am hoping that I will start feeling better in the weeks to come. Good luck to you.
