Woke up the other morning with the worst leg cramp in my calve that I've ever experienced in my life. 2 days later I'm still somewhat limping from it. Did anyone else experience this?

Also at 20-1/2 weeks, I'm starting to become very uncomfortable... backaches, heartburn, indigestion, constant stuffy nose...and now the leg cramps. I cannot believe I am only a little over half-way there.... It's going to be a LONG 3-4 months....

sorry you're so uncomfortable... I remember those feelings oh so well!! I used to get charlie horse's all the time. I would get them first thing in the morning when I stretched. I found that if I kept my foot up straight, at a 90 degree angle, that when I stretched that I wouldn't get the cramp. Or if I did get the cramp, get out of bed as quick :)) ) as you can so your foot can be flat on the floor.. They were so painful! Good luck and don't worry, your babies will be here before you know it!! :)

Start taking Magnesium supplements. Problem is that during pregnancy we end up in the bathroom a lot more frequently and this results in you losing a lot of Magnesium and thus the cramps. I take a tablet in the morning and at night before bed and my cramping has stopped completely. Also helps a bit with the sagging energy levels! Good luck :winking:

I had these at about 20 weeks as well - they would wake me in the middle of the night. When they start try stretching your calf by straightening your knees and flexing your foot toward your knee. This worked miracles for me and if you do it quickly then you can avoid most of the pain. Keep your leg in this position until the cramp has gone away which can take a few minutes.

I also increased my milk and banana intake as they have been linked to a lack of calcium or potassium - and they went away within a few weeks.

I hope you can get some relief soon!!
