Homemade headbands?

Is there anyone who has made their own headbands? Is it worth making yourself? I found some cute ones on the internet, but they are $8 or more each! What kind of material do you use? Elastic.... lace?

I make all my own I use knee highs (they come in a little egg carton at wal*mart for .33 cents! Then you hot glue them or sew the ends together, glue ribbon tightly around the connection point, then glue a cute flower or bow on the top. You can kindof see my girls on my ticker!
