So we have finally made it to the 2nd year forum. I haven't been on TS in probably 2 months due to the business of vacation and planning a birthday party. My girls, Hannah & Kate, are 12 months. I am looking for ideas for twin homemade Halloween costumes. I'm not really crafty and I can sew basic (we're talking really basic) things. I was thinking along the lines of Thing 1 & Thing 2 from Dr. Seuss. It seems like it would be easy to find red sleepers (although, we live in Florida so I'm not sure if that maybe too warm)and I'm sure I could manage a way to make some blue wigs. Just wondering if anyone has done Thing 1 & Thing 2 before and how you did it? Also, does anyone else have any other ideas for twin costumes? I'm trying to keep it simple and cheap. Thanks!

My boys are going to be cowboys, super easy and cheap for me. They can wear their overalls with a plaid shirt underneath (either short or long sleeved depending on the weather). My plan is to have them wear their straw cowboy hats that our neighbors got them in Mexico and then try to tie a bandana around thier neck or else stick it in their pocket. At a birthday party they also got clip on old time sherriff's badges so they might wear those too if they can keep them on and not play with them too much. Next I need to see if I can find some cheaper cowboy boots or something else cowboy looking for them to wear on their feet.

I guess for us being in Michigan you never know if it will be hot or cold, so with a costume like this I can layer without having to go trick or treating in a snowsuit (which I did more than once as a kid)

If you have plain white sleepers, you could glue or sew on black dots and they could be dalmatians. Last year I made tutus for the girls and bought them cute little hats, they weren't really anything per se besides cute. I think it would be pretty easy to make them cats, dress in black, you could easily make ears out of a head band and paint whiskers on their faces. I'll have to think of some other cute easy costumes.

My girls were thing 1 and thing 2 last year for Halloween around 8 months. We had been given red thing 1 and thing 2 rompers as a gift, but if you don't have them I have seen it done with red sleeper or red two piece sweatsuit material and then take a white circle of felt and sew that on would just need to tack it on enough so it won't fall off. Then use black fabric pen to write thing 1 and thing 2. The wigs I made were cheap hats that I added blue yarn to in the same style as raggedy ann. It worked really well my husband dressed up as cat in the hat to go with them.
This year I am thinking of doing wizard of oz, Dorthy, Glinda, and one of the other characters for my husband.

READ THIS LINK it had tons of ideas for TWINS for costumes.

Im making all our costumes this year and we are actually going as Fred, Wilma, Pebbles & bam-bam. Im making most of our things from felt, faux fur, and styrofoam balls.
Should be cheap & simple. After all it was rugged, the stone ages so no neat and clean lines ;)
