I have had swollen ankles since the birth of my twins on Sept 26.

Does anyone know how to get rid of these crazy size ankles.

It hurts to walk the Dr just says to elevate but I do and when I walk it is all down hill from there.

    Thanks in advance

The best trick I have found to get rid of swollen ankles is to drink lots and lots of water! Drinking plenty of water should help flush out your system and reduce fluid retention. Also avoid salty foods if at all possible. Hope you get some relief soon!

That seems like an awful long time to have swelling, IMO. Do you have any other symptoms?

    • right-sided upper abdominal pain or pain around the stomach
    • nausea, vomiting
    • headache
    • increased blood pressure
I ask, because HELPP syndrome can develop even after you give birth, and can be very serious. I do agree with PP, lots of water.

I was also going to say to drink lots of water. I Had a problem with swollen ankles and legs after giving birth but it went away within the first month.

Mine went away fairly quickly as well, I think within the first week or so. I agree with drink lots of water, but if it continues I would get it checked out.

Tons and tons of water (I was drinking a gallon a day for a month straight..) and no soda... Mine were still really swollen at 6wks pp... so my doctor gave me RX diuretics. That finally did it. :)

I had swollen ankles for at least 3-4 weeks PP. Drink a ton of water and that will help you. It also helps with your milk supply if you are nursing!
