My munchkins were born October 7 at 31 weeks and 2 days, both weighing 3 lbs 8 oz. They spent 4 weeks in the NICU. They came home this past Sunday at 35 weeks 2 days, both weighing 4 lbs 8 oz. They are also both breastfeeding. It's so exciting. I'm just so thankful that they are doing so well. They had no major problems at birth and just had to grow a little more. Basically all they needed was for their lungs to grow a little and to learn to eat on their own. We started trying to breastfeed at just over 32 weeks. They learned to latch earlier than the 34 week mark that the doctors were saying it happens at. From what they explained, babies don't learn to suck until 34 weeks gestation.

Sorry about the bragging. Just wanted to share that my munchkins are home now. It's so exciting to have them here. But I'm so exhausted!

That is awesome!!! Know, too, that the breastfeeding gets easier! I have been nursing mine since day#2 with Hannah and day #8 with Meredith (NICU babies, too). They were 4 pounds each when I brought them home & now are getting close to 11 pounds each at 4 months old. Don't let anyone tell you that you can't breastfeed twins! I haven't had to supplement since they were about 2 weeks old. Now I even have a freezer supply! That will happen once they start dropping night feeds ... if you want a freezer supply ... I just would pump before I went to bed when they were sleeping a little longer ... and I would pump after they ate at like 4AM. Good luck ... now the fun & games begin! It is crazy ... I take 100's of pictures of my girls and when they are asleep at night I find myself looking at their pictures on the computer b/c I miss their sweet faces ... crazy but true!

Thanks for the info. I got lucky and I've produced enough since they were born. :D I do supplement with a few feeds but it's because the doctors wanted them to have more calories. I already have a pretty big freezer stash. It's crazy how much is in there.
