EEEE GADS!!! We are getting SLAMMED! I'll post pictures later. We are expecting 16-24 inches at our house!

THANK GOODNESS we have a commercial grade snow blower! I have cleared the driveway once and the sidewalks, but we'll have to do it again before evening!

My Dad can't get here! My mom came yesterday, but Dad had a dental appt. this a.m. so he was coming this afternoon, but the airport is CLOSED!! We're hoping he'll get here on Friday or Sat. I hope! (Oh...he flies standby (retired airline pilot) so maybe he won't make it!

It's fun though. We hit the grocery store and the liquor store and I'm going to make a big pot of chili tomorrow and we'll just watch it snow!!

Hope you guys weather the storm okay and that your Dad makes it there soon! I love sitting back and watching a snowstorm. Unfortunately, I don't think we'll be getting even a dusting for Christmas.

 

we have a good friend on an airplane at the Denver airport right now. They were suppose to be the last plane out this morning but had engine trouble, now they are trying to de ice the plane so they can fly out to sunny california right now. I hope she gets to take off!

Keep it there! I hear we are supposed to get it and I don't... well, it would be nice to have a white Christmas, but it is supposed to be in the 40's by the weekend. Of course, we're supposed to get rain and then freezing rain and then snow! enjoy!

You may think I am crazy, but your post makes me miss the snow!!! I grew up in the snow (California isn't always warm and sunny) and really miss it every once in a while. I of course, though, would want chill and a little somthin' for my hot coccoa too.

 

Thanks everyone!! I'm having a great time (since I don't have to SHOVEL ) and making brownie points with the neighbors for helping them! (I heard there's some cinnamon rolls headed our way )

Bad news....the airport is closed!!

 

Oh Diane, you're such a whiner. It's just a few flakes. Here is a pic out our back door, taken about 2 hours ago. Dave made it home okay thankfully but said it was pretty hairy.

My ILs are supposed to fly in on Friday. Oh well - at least we'll have a white Christmas! Your dad will arrive by then at least.

Oh, and we're not making chili but Mom came over at 9 this AM and we've been baking. We have plenty of beer though

Ahhh, Diane...I'll be thinking of you this afternoon as we go to the park in our shorts and t-shirts, lathered up in sunscreen!!! But heh, even though it is warm here (well, high 60s but cold by CA standards), chili and liquor still sounds just fine to me!!!!!!

Any word on how long they think the airport will be closed. A friend of mine sent his 9 yr old daughter to her mom's out there and she's sitting @ the airport in Dallas indefinitely. I feel so bad for her. They haven't brought her luggage to her or anything yet (have spoken w/ her a few times on her cell) Was thinking of calling my brother in Wichita Falls to drive to DFW to be w/ her (her dad knows my bro too) What do y'all think?

Diane- sorry I jumped on your thread- I really am jealous- this is the one time of the year I miss snow (wish we could have some with the 75 degree temps) ENJOY being snowed in

Nicole, I grew up in OC, went to school at Cal Poly SLO (where hubby and I met) then we moved to San Jose and we've been in CO for 6 years and LOVE LOVE LOVE it!

Really, these blizzards are very few and far between. The last one we had was in spring 2003. Snow near Denver is usually enough to be pretty but not enough to really be a PITA all winter long.

I don't miss CA one bit

they are snowed in on the runway, can't even get back to the terminal, they are trying to plow them out as we speak...even if they get back to the terminal they can't go anywhere because the airport is snowed in...they are still talking about trying to get them off the ground today, don't know how that is going to happen but we will see.

I actually have been meaning to PT you. My husband is looking at a possible transfer and we just visited the weekend before Thanksgiving and was looking at the Broomfield area. I think Diane mentioned that is the area you are in.

 

Snow? What's that? We had some frost the other morning, but I think that's as close as we'll get to a white Christmas. I hope your dad makes it in on Friday!

THEY FINALLY MADE IT OFF THAT AIRPLANE! 8+ HOURS 100 YDS from the DOOR! What a horrible miserable situation!! Sorry for them!!

I have now snow blowed 3 times. (For those playing along with the home game!) I feel VERY productive! Gave the kids an early bath and they are playing in their warm fuzzy pj's!!

LOVIN' IT!!!

Any reason why they just didn't blow the safety devises and let them slide out? I just think it is crazy that those people had to be in the plane that long for no good reason.

 

You can keep it I'm enjoying the weather, cold in the mornings, even have to scrap frost off the van windows but it warms up to the 40s, Friday it'll be in the 50s (knocking on wood that strom doesn't head this way)

 

um yea...its supposed to be 48 here in good ol' NE PA...

I always heard it this way "GO BIG OR GO HOME!" That's what we are doing!!

5 times snow blowing the drive and the neighbors! I hear we are getting fresh homemade cinnamon rolls in the a.m.

DH took 6 hrs. to get home, but made it for dinner!

Off to shower and collapse.....will post pics in the a.m.!

 

Please KEEP the snow in Colorado!!! I am totally NOT ready for any sort of snowstorm to hit the Kansas City area so I hope it's not headed this way. I still don't really even have a winter coat myself...I've just been wearing a long black sweater that worked as my Florida winter coat...I just keep putting on layers myself. The boys got brand new heavy winter coats and snow boots tho and they've been itching to play in those darn boots in some snow.

 

We are leaving for Kansas (Topeka) tomorrow morning. I hope we see some snow..but not until we get to my in-laws house. LOL I do not want to be driving in it. Does anyone know if Kansas is suppose to get it or not? Everytime I go up there..they never have snow..
