Please add your recommendations for gifts/toys for 6-12 month olds. Once we get enough responses we will make this a sticky at the top for the Holiday season!

Those looking for recommendations for 1 year olds, please check this thread! You will also find recommendations threads for 2, 3, and 4 year olds in the Ages 1-4 Forum.

I just bought my girls the fisher price Kitchen. It's great. The front half is kitchen, th other side is the "living room". They can stand at it and it plays music and abc's etc. They love it now and I think as they get older, they will "understand"more about it too. ie. opening the refrigerator door, shape inserts on the door etc. It's a great item that will last for awhile as far as learning etc.

My nephew LOVES his fisher-price Amazing Animals Sing and Go Choo-Choo so much that we just bought him the extra animals and push and pull cars for his first birthday. Turned out to be the big hit at his party. :D

    Leapfrog Table
    FP Laugh and Learn House
    FP Pianos

    For their birthday we're getting:
    - FP Laugh and Learn Vacuum
    - My first purse
    - Little Tikes basket ball hoop
    - Vtech Steering Wheel

I also like the new FP Sing Along Mirror / Table ($40)

Anything stacking / sorting / shapes is always good too.

The BEST gifts that my babies received that first Christmas were actually the necessities! My parents bought a ton of formula, diapers, and wipes, and I thought it was the best gift, especially since they weren't really in need of anything.

Other options would be the Leapfrog table, board books, and the Laugh and Learn house.

DVDs - Baby Einstein, Baby Bumblebee, etc. They can use them here and there now and a lot more later. It's also a really easy thing to put on the wish list for relatives to get. The puppets and toys that go along with it are fun too.

The best item from that time with DD was the Leapfrog Learning Table. We are now using it again with the boys and loving it.

My girls are starting to like baby cars and tractors (ie. John Deere little people set or Bob the Builder truck) they have no small pieces but roll around and make noises. They like chewy toys and I am currently looking for a toy they can stand up next to or pull themselves up with if they make such a thing.

Besides that pretty much anything that rolls or makes noise!! LOL

YES!!! Especially now that they are pullling up at 9 mo this is a perfect gift!
I also agree with PP about necessities. They aren't as "fun" but an awesome gift for me!!!

Add clothes too... I can't seem to get enough even with DD hand me downs

We got the Hide N' Seek Combo. We got it at Costco for only $30. They are a little young for it but it was such a good deal and I know they will have a blast once they start crawling. I love that it has 4 areas and 3 tunnels. It seems really big.

Leap Frog learning table was hands-down the best toy purchase investment I made for the boys from 6-12 months.

From 4-6m, we removed all 4 legs and had it on the ground for tummy time.
From 6-9m, we added 2 legs and propped it up at a 45 degree angle for sitting/bumbo action.
From 9-15m, we added all 4 legs for pulling up/cruising action.
At 15m, we had to remove all 4 legs as the little monkeys were climbing up and standing on it.
At 20m, they STILL like to play with it.

Fisher Price Learning Home was the best toy for 9m+. We got it for their 2nd bday, but I think they'd have had fun with it from the minute they were sitting up/pulling up.

At 20m, they still play with this everyday. They enjoyed it most from 12-15m b/c it was new/novel. They really got into all of it's features around 15m with the shape sorting.
