I'm sure this topic has been broached many a time, but I'll turn to you twin moms again for sage advice.

My twin daughters are in a home-based daycare 5 days a week. I need to get a gift for the daycare provider and her assistant.

I know the protocol is a week's pay, but I am already paying her for the week between Christmas and New Years when she'll be closed. Kind of a built in paid vacation for her.

I'd like to get another gift, but can't afford another week's salary. I was thinking a $150 gift card for Macy's and maybe $100 cash for the assistant.

Does this sound reasonable? Cheap? Over the top? I just have no frame of reference.

    Thanks for your advice! SharonB

That sounds right to me, based on what I've heard from others. I think the week's pay deal is more for "employee" type situations (i.e., nanny) than for family based day care.

Sure is nice to see you posting....since I met you "way back when" -- PT (pre twins)!!!!!

Hoping you and yours have a wonderful holiday.

I think it sounds EXTREMELY generous. I got the workers in my boys room, 4 total, $10 gift cards to Barnes and Noble. That way they can use it for a book or a coffee from the Starbucks in it. It isnt much but I noticed that most people in their room didn't do anything. Have a wonderful holiday!

I agree w/ Amber, I think that is EXTREMELY generous!! Our home based day care is closed as well, so I too feel like I am paying her for a weeks vacation. I only got her a fleece throw and a candle [IMG]

Very generous. My toddler is in daycare but twins are home with MIL. For daycare, I am paying for the week closed also. Our daycare is more of a large institution. I am giving the teacher a baked good plus $25 gift card and the assistant a $20 gift card.
