How old will they be when they start holding their bottle? I keep trying to teach them, but Logan flips it over everytime to chew the bottom and Luke chews on the nipple! Also....when will the burping stop?

My girls started holding theirs around 7.5 months. We continued burping until they were sitting and moving well on their own and I noticed they were getting good burps out that way.

I stopped burping them once they could sit unassisted....around 7 months or so.

My two were really lazy about holding their bottles and finally at almost 12 months would finally start holding them and drinking from them..I've seen babies hold it earlier though at like 7/8 months.

Mine did not officially hold their bottles until the end of the 9th month. This was a milestone that I could not wait for and it seemed to take forever. Just when we started dropping bottles for solids. As far as burping once they stopped bottles that really went away except for the occasional escapee!

We were holding bottles around 5-6 months. I quit burping them later, around 8 or 9 months, since we had really bad reflux.

Cody will pull the bottle out of his mouth to burp, but will NOT hold it in yet.

We stopped burping at about 2 months as per our PED. According to him it makes the reflux worse and I do agree with him having witnessed it myself.

Thomas has been holding his cup (we are off bottles) for over a month. Elizabeth has no interest at all!

Aiden started around 7-7.5 mos & now does it pretty consistently. He will take it & chew on it at times, but we don't mind. We still need to tip it up for him a little when he gets towards the bottom, or else he slurps too much air.

Conner is just starting to show interest in holding his own bottle. He gets sooo mad when we hold it in front of him that he'll grab it & put it in. He's not consistent in keeping it in or keeping it tipped up yet. He still takes it in & out a lot, like Aiden did at first.

We haven't stopped burping yet, so I can't answer that question. We even burp MID bottle at times, if they need it. We've gotten some MONSTER burps out of them lately, especially when they feed themselves. There's no way I'd let them go off & play without burping them first. Mine are FINALLY starting to slow on the spitting up too! Whew!

GL on getting your little ones to hold their Bubbas. It's heavenly to give it to them & still get stuff done if you need to. Just because Aiden can hold his doesn't mean we don't hold him to feed him when able. It's just nice when I'm feeding 2 at once!!!!

I hate to be a downer, but mine NEVER held their bottles! I don't know why, maybe it was the shape (our bottles were the fatter variety), but they just didn't. It took a lot of prompting for them to hold their sippy cups too. We were done with bottles at 13 months.

I think ours just started holding their own bottles last month- so around 10.5 months? And J doesn't always burp, but B does- though neither really need us to burp them, they just let out a good belch when they're done eating! :)

My exclusively breastfed babies started holding their bottles (I went back to work 2x/week when they were 6 months old) at 7 months. All babies are different!
