After giving Reece his sippy this morning, he was walking around and fell back on his butt with the sippy in his mouth. Here is the result! His smile will never be the same... :(

Oh no! At least it's a baby tooth?

Yep he screamed! He also cut his lip on the tooth when it happened. I actually have the piece of tooth because it was stuck in the sippy cup! Since tomorrow is a holiday, we can't see a dentist until Tues, but I was able to speak with one over the phone and she told me what to look for and didn't think that the nerve or root was exposed. I really hope that they bond the tooth, but I'm not getting my hopes up.

Searra chipped her tooth when she was about a year and a half old. Pretty noticeable for a while (she's got a whole corner gone...) but our pedi passed on some info that was pretty neat. He told us that after a while it will be less noticeable, as the baby teeth continue to come down and expose themselves (as the adult teeth develop above them). And you know? He was right! You can still tell with Searra, but it's not nearly as noticeable as when she first did it. Small chip out of her tooth vs the entire corner!

Good luck, we've had a ton of chipped/loosed/blackened teeth here(numerous episodes, both girls). Luckily, they've all firmed back up and no significant permanent color change.

Aww    but I agree that it'll just become part of his personality! I would get it looked at and see if they can smooth the corners a bit if they are still sharp.

:hug: Awww poor little man! I hope he is ok, you must have had an awful fright! I don't know if there really is anything that can be done at his young age, plus considering it is a baby tooth, they might not do anything:hug: He is still gorgeous anyways:wub: , and as pp said, it will become part of his personality!

Oh poor thing! :( I hope the dentist can at least file down the edges so it's not so sharp. Let us know how it goes tomorrow!

Appointments went great today!! Reece is going to get his tooth capped so it's protected. The procedure will have to be done at the hospital since he is so young and they want to put him under. Spencer has 4 molars coming in!

I know how you feel about the smile! My Alyse has a chipped front tooth too. The dentist sanded it down - I still sometimes feel that pain in my heart when she smiles, but it has become less noticeable and it's apart of her now. These things happen! Hope the cap protects that little tooth for him for the next few years! :)
