:cray: Ok so these past 2 weeks I've had what at first seemed like sciatica pain and now seems like hip pain. I have a really hard time putting weight on my right hip and I feel like it is going to give out. I have to really walk slowly or I'm afraid I will fall. I'm just curious if anyone else is experiencing the same and if there is anything they did to help with the pain. Did this go away for anyone or did it stay until the end of pregnancy ??

    thanks

I am not as far along as you- but have been having problems with my hip a lot for the last 12 weeks or so. I am guessing it is because Baby A just likes to stay cuddled up down there- although I think she may be working her way out as it has gotten quite a bit better in the last few days! I got a maternity support belt at the suggestion of my doctor and while it is not that comfortable to wear- it really helps when I do wear it!

Mine has gotten really bad recently too. I hardly sleep because after an hour or so on one hip, I wake up in pain and have to turn over. I don't have any advise for what makes it better...but I feel your pain :(

I had the same thing, and it turns out the babies had pushed one side of my pelvis out of place (they both liked hanging out on one side--go figure!)--ouch!! Physical therapy has made all the different in the world, there are definitely exercises that can help strengthen the lower abdominal muscles to keep things in place.

I would definitely talk to your OB if things continue. Especially if there's something you can do about the pain, you can use your energy for other things. :)

    Hang in there!

I'm experiencing the same pain. It's awful! I have a support belt (the Mini Prenatal Cradle) and it helps but it makes me feel like I need to pee even more! LOL! The other thing that helps me is a warm bath. But, other than that, I just suffer. :( I hope you find some relief soon!

My hips have been killing me for a couple weeks. The only relief I've found is that when it starts hurting in the middle of the night & goes numb, just to try to roll slightly toward the back to relieve the pressure for a bit. Then when the ole' back & hip kick in at the same time, I usually just try to hobble around till the feeling comes back & the pain disappears for a bit. I'm kind of chicken to tell my OB - I'm afraid he'll yank me outta work!!

I dont actually have hip pain anymore but might I suggest a heat pack, like a wheat bag or something.

im only about 15wks and i have the same pain in my back on my tailbone. to where somedays i can barely walk and sit up right. i use a heating pad when home and thata helps but besides that, im starting to wonder if one or both babies are resting on my right side in my back at times, because the pain is awful sometimes ;-( scares me to see how much pain i will be in the more weight im carrying.

I too have a lot of pain already. It feels like it's in the spinal area as well as my hips. I toss and turn every night, about every hour, and it helps a little - but I think it's also sciatic pain because walking does wonders. I have to be careful about where I sit - if the chair is not long enough I feel my legs pulling on my hips and if it's not low enough they are pulling again and that aggravates it. I'm so ready to see a chiropractor!

My hips start throbbing at night, my husband does rehabilitation and he told me that it is because certain hormones relax your ligaments while your are pregnant and that this can cause them to hurt when strained. He told me the best thing for this is putting a pillow between your legs while laying down, using ice packs (not heat) and to wear a pregancy belt to relieve pressure from weight. It seems to be helping me. Good luck!

I have done a number of things which help at various times. One, ook up stretched for you hip flexors and do those you can. There is one where you stand with right leg crossed behind lefteg/foot (use a wall for stability). Then raise your right hand over your head and lean to your left. (Raise the same hand as the leg crossed over). try and stick out your right hip as much as possibe and hold. I usually use my left hand for stability or to push out my hip. Then switch sides.

Next I use ice/heat combo's for an hour. Finally, this past week I had to up it to wo pillows between my legs because one wasn't cutting it anymore. Good uck, it is normal and annoying.

One thing that helped me was doing pelvic tilts, in various positions (standing, lying down, sitting), while drawing in my abs and sometimes while doing my kegels. It strengthened my lower abdominal muscles enough to take pressure off of the loosening hip joints.

My PT also suggested--and this has helped soooo much--tightening those same abdominal muscles when changing positions to help stabilize everything--sitting to walking, picking something up, even turning from side-to-side or trying to get out of bed.

Along with tightening lower abs as getting out of bed, she suggested keeping the pillow between my legs as I turn, or try to get up, again to keep things stable.

Hope you find something that helps!!!

Wow! Nice to know that I'm not the only one struggling with hip/buttox pain! Mine seems to be the left side and that's the side the doc says to lay on. I do for a bit then it hurts too much & falls asleep. Night is worst I am up all night tossing & turning to get comfy. I wear maternity belt during day if I'm going to be up alot. I try to rest at least an hour a day off my feet until my hip hurts then I'm up again. Walking feels like I am my 86 yr old grandmother who hobbles from one side to the other. But soon it will be over & it's all well worth it!

Yes it does feel like a 86 year old grandmother. The sad thing was I went to a mulitples group last week and I was the ONLY one who was walking in this fashion !! At least of what I noticed.... I couldnt' even fake an attempt to walk gracefully. I'm going to a Murder Mystery and my character is Ginger Rogers & my dh is Fred Estaire.

I will try the suggestions you've made -- I too had to sleep with two very full pillows between my legs the other night due to the pain. I find when I turn over to sleep on my other side that my low back (hip area) is very painful.
