    Hi Everyone -

I'm 22 weeks pregnant. I'm experiencing painful hip pain that wakes me up in the middle of the night. I switch from side to side and use pillow support, but it persists.

It's always gone by morning and I don't experience it during the day.

I keep forgetting to mention this to my OB and would welcome any advice.

Oh how I remember the hip pain, and it is no fun!! The only thing that even remotely helped with the pain was to put a pillow between my legs, a pillow behind my back and a pillow under my belly. I hope you are able to get some relief soon!!

Me too - I've been sleeping with a pillow between my legs since about 18 weeks. It saved me! Then at about 28 weeks I bought a really nice pillow top cover for my mattress - that has helped even further. Good luck!

I had this- it sucks & isn't gone yet, for me. But it's much more bearable. What worked for me was weekly trips to the chiropractor & getting to the pool.

    I hope it helps,

mine took about a year to go away, i'm pretty sure it was sciatica. i did a strict chiropractor regimen for 4 months after my girls were born, but it made little improvement. good luck, it's rough!

I'm only 14 weeks and am too experiencing hip pain on my right side only at night while sleeping on my side. I'm going to start with using more pillows at night! It seems that this hip discomfort is going to be part of the journey so hopefully the pillows will help you!

I have the same thing!! And it's getting so uncomfortable to change sides too. I also found that putting a pillow between my knees helps a little...but not all the time. If it's really bad I'll get up and go to the bathroom, I know I'll end up there at some point during the night anyways :) Sometimes that helps get the blood flowing again. You could always try taking tylenol either before bed or when it's really bothersome during the night.

Thank you all for your feedback. I'm sorry that so many of us are experiencing this, but relieved to know that it's normal. I'm going to add more pillows (my poor husband will soon be relegated to the couch) and consider a chiropractor and more visits to the pool.

I have been having similar pains for the last few weeks, but mostly through the day. If I stand the wrong way it's like a jolt of pain going through my whole side! Also if I'm on my feet for too long. I get it in my hip, butt, right down into my tailbone area sometimes-mainly in right side but sometimes in the left.

I have been using extra pillows at night for weeks and my husband makes jokes about setting up my 'den'! Can't say I blame him, it does look funny!
