highchair help

my LO's prefer eating in their bouncy/infant seats. when i put them in their highchairs they aren't good eaters.
is this to be expected?

 

I am not sure since we arent using our high chairs yet. However this weekend I experimented with oatmeal cereal and fed in the bouncies and they were find and liked it. Also when I have to feed both at the same time I put them in there and they dont seem to mind at all. If you are ok with it, I wouldnt worry about it. Just do a slow transition to a high chair. One of my friends even let their DS just sit in the high chair and watch tv or play with a toy or something and that got him more comfortable in it

 

Can their highchairs be reclined at all? Thats how my girls prefer to eat.

 

Yes, ours too. We have the First Steps space saver high chairs, and they have difficulty right being upright and eating.

 

We didn't start using our high chairs (the Fischer Price space savers) until our boys were about 6 months old. They did not like to eat in the bouncy seats at all, but we used the bumbo seats a lot for feedings.

 

they don't recline; they are totally upright

 

Can they sit upright good? If they can't, or are slumping to the side, it's probably not comfortable for them which is why they aren't eating good. You can either wait to use the highchairs until they are sitting better, or try propping them up, use towels, blankets or something similar to prop them into a better sitting position.

When my oldest ds was younger, we didn't use a highchair we just bought a booster seat that straps to the regular chair, and we would prop him up with a roll of toilet paper beside him! Worked fantastic until he could sit straighter!
