My girls are both not feeling good. Liberty has a temp of 101.2 and Leighanna has a temp of 101.7. Neither one of them are eating, I think all day they had 10-12 oz each. I don't know what to do, I've been giving then tylenol and that is helping a little. They are so hot to the touch and I'm worried about them not eating. I was thinking about giving the pedialyte but the aren't vomiting and they don't have diarrhea. I called the after hrs # at my pedi office and I've been waiting a hr and half for them to call me back. Can anyone offer me any advice?

I know where you are coming from. Maddie woke up last night (2 A.M. actually) with a temp of 101.4, and put her in a tub of warm water and bathed her, plus gave her tylenol, and it broke. She hasn't had fever since. She also hasn't had much to drink today. I don't know what is causing your babies' fevers, but hers was teething. Our girls' are only on one bottle a day, and the rest is sippies, but when they were younger and still getting bottles, teething sometimes kept them from sucking, I guess b/c it hurt more. That might be why yours aren't eating. I don't think it can hurt them to give them them the pedialite b/c they DO NOT need to get dehydrated, and it will at least put the electrolytes back in their system. If it is teething, you might try giving them a sippy cup, if they will take it, or try feeding them a little pedialite with a medicine dropper. That is all the advice I know to offer. I hope they are feeling better soon!!! [IMG]

Thank you for the advice Melissa, I think I'll give it a shot. I'm not sure if its teething, they got their two top teeth about a week ago. Maybe more are comming in, if so I hope the will just break through I don't want this to last to long. I feel so bad for them, I wish I could be the one to have the fever.

No problem...I just hope that helps. Keep us updated on how they are feeling. Teething is the "iffiest" thing ever. I am so articulate! B/c some rounds they scream, cry, don't sleep, and run fever, and other rounds I never know they are teething at all. Maddie has had bruised gums for about 2 weeks, and it feels like there is a marble under her gums...it is awful. She is cutting her jaw teeth or molars, whatever you call them.

Let me know if they eat any better.

hi i have some good advice.. first b/c i am a nurse.. secondly b/c my girls were very sick 104.9 fevers etc a couple of weeks ago.. if the fever is very high.. 103 and up.. prob ear infection.. keep them hydrated whatever they will drink.. formula.. juice..water .. pedialyte.. if they arent eating it could be b/c their throats hurt.. def over 101 .5 is not teething..something is going on .. when u dont feel good u dont eat right?? just keep them hydrated with whatever u can.. and no cool bath..that can drop temp too quick causing seizures..instead u can wipe them with cool cloth.. etc just dont drench in bath or alcohol..any other questions pm me.. good luck ..let me know what happens.. hang in there. !

I'm not a nurse (i tried majoring in it, but it was not for me...I have so much respect for you guys, though. you are special people), so I definately trust your advice, but I just wanted to clarify that Maddie's was teething, BUT, she was also sleeping in between me and DH b/c she was so fussy that I couldn't get her to sleep any other way, so do you think that might have made her fever higher?? She is hot natured, so I thought that her being in bed with us might have made her warmer, but I don't know. (Sorry for jacking this post) [IMG] Also, to clarify another point, we didn't give Maddie a cool bath; it was a warm bath, b/c we had been told that about the cool bath (it didn't break her fever right away, but it did help)

I was thinking that the not eating and temp may be an ear infection, that's what has happened in the past with my DS anyway.

    *update*

Well this morning is a little bit better. Temps are down but still above normal, Liberty's is 99.6 and Leighanna's is 99.8. Liberty is eating a little better, but Lieghanna could care less. I tried to give her pedialyte and she isn't interested in it. I'm hoping it will get better this afternoon.

The after hrs nurse finally called me 2.5 hrs after I called there and unfortently she didn't offer much help. I guess I'm going to wait it out and see if they get better or if they get worse. If it gets worse by the afternoon I will take them in. Thank you everybody.
