So my 6.5 month olds have been eating cereal for about a month and a half and we are now on to veggies and Luke LOVES his sweet potatoes!!! Anyways, we have been feeding them in their fisher price infant rocker/ chairs but it is time to move on to some high chairs. We only received one at my shower. It is a chico 3 in 1 high chair and it looks great from the reviews I have done but it is $150 and 2 of these would take up a lot of room in our dining room (which is where we eat). Our kitchen is a bit small and then we have a breakfast nook and 2 high chairs would not fit in there. My sister uses the hook on chair and she loves it. I was wondering if anyone has used them and if so, how do you like them? Also, do they need to be able to sit up independently to use those chairs?

I bought one and thought it would be great for restaurants and visiting my parents house. Sadly, it didn't work on our kitchen table b/c it's adjustable and the bottom legs couldn't go over the bars for the extra leaves. I called my mom and asked her how wide her island was to see if it would work there. Her island was too small. I was able to return it though. Just food for thought!

We have these Fisher Price seats and love them. My boys still drink their sippies in the reclining position before bed.

Thanks :) silly question... do the fisher price seats sit sturdy on the floor too or are they only safe attached to a chair

You just have to make sure the straps aren't underneath them and they are great on the floor. I used them like that for about 2 months before putting them on the chairs. We started solids a little late, but they worked great for feeding them both bottles at the same time!

We didn't use them, but a friend of ours used it as her DS's only high chair, from about age 6 onwards. We would have done the same thing if we had anywhere to put them. (Our table wasn't that stable -- she used it at a breakfast bar.) I don't think they HAVE to be able to sit independently -- you can prop them with a pillow -- but it would help, since there isn't much support.

We used the First Years booster seats and really liked them.

My sister used the Chicco Hippo Hookon Chair ($50 at Babies R Us) when she traveled with the baby and she loved it. I registered for 2 for our boys and I hope that we get them! We travel a lot and it is so much easier then holding them the entire time.

Check it out on the web site

We had them and loved them. We've used them for 3 kids now and I've taken them to dozens of places outside the house. I've never found a table they did not work on but there were a few with edges that you had to tilt the chair to get it over that part of the table before tightening it down. As long as the babies have some upper body strength you can easily prop them up with wadded receiving blankets.

We have the fisher price space saver seats. We love them. I wouldn't want any other kind. We also have a small house. Over at my moms house we use the restaurant style chair. she found them at the local restaurant supply ( ace mart ) they were only 45 dollars and they stack on top of each other. No tray but I am not really worried about it cuz when they need a tray later they will slide under the table.

We LOVE our high chairs from IKEA. I did my research and this is what moms in Australia seem to buy. These are the best advantages:
    Price
They are very inexpensive $20 for chair, $5 for tray and $5 for infant cushion. That means I got two fantastic chairs for the price of the least expensive chair you usually find.

    Clean-Up
Just wipe down with a cloth. There are no seams so food can't get stuck.

    Storage
They stack and take up so much less room than others.

    Comfort
My boys seem so comfortable in them.

    Portable
The legs come off and the Australian moms write about just taking the chair with them to friends' homes or restaurants that don't have good high chairs.
