I want to start looking for high chairs. Is there such a thing as a double high chair? :)

Any particular features that are beneficial with twins?

    Thanks!

It depends on how much room you have in your house. Our kitchen is big enough to accommodate two high chairs, but I know others have opted to get chairs that attach to your dining room chairs to save space. I think FP makes one called a space saver chair. And no, no twin chairs that I know of.

Just a warning about the space saver chairs, depending on your chairs/tables, you might not be able to put the chairs under the table, so it wouldn't save that much room in the end... That's why we opted for two regular chairs instead.

By the way, you really want the chairs not to be too close to each other either, or they'll start stealing stuff from the other tray...

I think you should look at how much space you have. We have the Stokke chairs, started using them at 6 months and they still use them, and will probably for a few more years! They don't take up a lot of space, they grow with your child, they're easy to clean and look good (wood and many different colors). Disadvantage, they're expensive but worth it. Personally not having a tray and/or reclining option isn't a disadvantage, I prefer to have them sit at the regular table.

We have the Fisher Price space saver high chairs that attach to regular chairs. Not necessarily to save space, but we also take them when visiting relatives so we don't have to skip meals, or so we have a place to contain them while we're eating. They'll also be easier to store when we're no longer using them for the time being.

We also have the Fisher Price Space Savers and we really like them, true they don't fit quite under the table but they way our kitchen is set up, it doesn't make a difference. I like that they turn into booster seats as the twins grow and can be stored easily when not being used anymore.

We have THESE AND LOVE THEM

We take them to restaurants (so we dont have to worry if theres enough high chairs or how germy they are), we take them to friends houses, they fit at our table, they have an adjustable base to make them higher or lower. The trays are all dishwasher safe. theres no fabric to clean, they get 5 out of 5 star reviews. Best part is they are cheap and they turn into boosters that go up to 40 pounds!

    My thoughts on this:

Do you have space for two full size high chairs? If so, go for it. We have some that we bought used for $35 a piece from another twin family. Yeah, they get in the way at times, but it's so much easier to feed them from a spoon if they're up high. If you can, find one without a white tray. Spaghettios stain for a couple of days (bleach cleaner will remove it, but I don't like to use the harsh chemicals on the trays). We have removable dishwasher safe clip ons to the trays, but we rarely use them. Also, the toys on the trays are such a good idea, so they're occupied while you're preparing their food. And make sure that it has a 5 point harness!!

We also have two of the little booster/to go high chairs that stay in the van just in case we need them (i.e. restaurant only has one available high chair, eating at a friend's house etc.) My kids just dont' seem as comfortable as they are in the big ones.

I have the room, so I have two high chairs… I have been using them for a LONG time (like 4 weeks old… because mine recline and have sides so it was easy for my 10 year old to help me feed…) I have hard wood floors so I wanted wheels w/ locks and I wanted one button release for the tray… so I can take the tray off with one baby in my hand, I also wanted those snap on trays tops for easier cleaning… OH had to be vinyl for easy clean up (but a little hot come summer). lastly mine also is adjustable height wise... so if i sit at the sofa w/ them, i can lower it... if i sit at the table i can raise it...

    This is around 12 w… using it for a bottle-feeding w/ out the tray…

We also have full sized high chairs. If you have room, I would do this too. We also have some portable chairs that fold up and can be taken to relatives. We don't take them into restaurants because we just bring those chairs covers in.

Our house does not have the room for 2 high chairs so we also use the Space Saver chairs. I like that they have a 5 point harness and even though they don't slide under the table all the way, they don't take up any more room than the 2 dining room chairs do anyway. They actually work out pretty well for us. We have yet to actually take them anywhere to use them but they work great at home.

We only have one right now but will purchase another as soon as we can, and this is what we have, the Graco contempo (the pattern I have isn't in anymore they have new patterns but the style is the same)

Biggest reason I love it, when I don't need it, or company is coming over, it folds up to just 7-8 inches wide! Perfect to slide up against a wall or behind a table out of the way! One hand recline, one hand tray removal, 5 pt harnes, adjustable height, and folds flat. Love mine! Like I said we'll be getting another one of these!

  13. We use the Antilop chairs from IKEA. They are cheap, they clean up in seconds, they STACK - which is awesome for saving space, and the legs pop out in seconds to take to Grandma's house or wherever. Win - Win - Win!
