    Hey all!

So Im just not here much, sorry. You'll find my on F.B. but I just don't have time for both. But I have a question that I think is best placed here.

I have a high chair that was handed down to me from a friend. She got it from a neighbor. I THINK the neighbor got it at a garage sale but can't remember. I have had it and been using it for about 5 months now with no problems. The same baby uses it. I clean the chairs with hot soapy water after every use and then take apart and bleach once a week.

About 2 weeks ago it started to stink like a carton of rotten milk! I have NO idea why. The cushion is plastic. So the past 2 weeks Ive been bleaching it a few times a week to get rid of the smell. Not a fan of that but the smell needs to go! It's SO bad it's stinking up the house! All the sudden, no idea why, wont go away. Ive tried, oxy clean, vinegar, stain and Oder remover, bio clean. Nothing is getting rid of it.

    Ideas?

What about the belt, do you think it might have had milk spilt on it? Can you pinpoint a particular spot that stinks more?

I think I would probably end up looking for another chair to use. That's alot of cleaning you are doing.

I hate belts, lol! waste of time so once they are setting up i take them off. the belts got removed some time ago. can't put my finger on it. and you would think with it being plastic! if it was still garage sale season i would go hunting. they are way to pricey to buy new. im just shocked by how over whelming the smell is.... despite how clean it is?

You could try getting a used one off of Craigslist.

You think I should just throw it out? I was hoping it was save-able but maybe I need to let it go.

I'm starting to wonder if there is something "brewing" from a past owner? And the new damp weather is "unearthing" it? I'm a borderline clean freak so I can't imagine what's on there that's making it stink so bad.

It sounds like you have spent enough time cleaning it that, if it were possible to get rid of the smell you would have gotten rid of it by now! I'm with Rachel, you should try Craigslist.

do you think the bleach has reacted with the plastic ?

I have a IKEA chair those are the cheapest going and here in Australia EVERYONE buys them. Even if they buy the expensive ones, they get rid of them and buy these. They are even cheaper in the U.S. Do you have an IKEA near you ? www.Ikea.com

They wipe clean so easily !! The legs can be taken off easily if going to a cottage or grandmas. They are at all the restaurants here and you never see a broken one.

Or, the Fisher Price booster/high chair since they are not all that far from transitioning to a booster. There's another thread about this model going right now, too. I love everything about mine and it's a great height for transitioning babies to the table from their tray. I think it would appeal to your "clean" side, too. After using these, I wouldn't dream of buying a true-blue high chair. Ever.

I got tired of cleaning our plastic/vinyl covers too! I finally went with wooden high chairs a couple of months ago, not sure if that's an option for 9 mo. olds or not... I LOVE being able to just wash them down...

I would throw out your high chair as well

I had Phil and Ted's Metoo My link while you have to attach it to a table clean up was super easy - they were really cheap but sadly we don't have an ikea here :(

Can you take the cushion out for awhile(put a towel in?), to see if it got into the cushion somehow. Yuck! :bad:
