Grandma is in the market for a high chair as she will be my 14 month old nieces "nanny" this summer. She has a high chair, but even in the "upright" position it's nowhere near upright and the kids hate sitting in it.

I like the Combi ones we have, but it's pretty big, and she's looking for one that's folds up more compact (but not a booster). She also doesn't want to spend a ton of money for something that will only be getting occasional use.

Anyone have one that fits this bill?

We have the Peg Perego Prima Pappa Diner high chair. It sits upright and is easy to clean, but it's on the pricier side. Sorry.

We have Baby Trend. Kind of large, but does fold up. Can't remember the price.

Oh, I know what you mean about the chair not sitting upright enough! We were visiting someone and borrowed one of theirs and I couldn't believe how reclined it was. I kept messing with it trying to get it to go upright and finally realized that it was as upright as it goes. They could barely reach the tray if they sat back and they were 15 months at the time!

We have Fisher Price Healthy Care chairs and they sit very upright in the first position (it also reclines). The bases fold but they're still pretty bulky since the seat itself doesn't collapse.

I'm wondering why she wouldn't want the booster type? FP makes nice ones with trays. If she really wants a freestanding chair, I'd shop used. There are plenty of them out there and that would be an inexpensive way to get a nice one.

Get the FIRST YEARS feeding seats. They strap to the chair and push under the table and they are about $2? bucks at Target. I am just finishing with mine at 2 y.o. and they have been AWESOME!!!!

She actually already has that FP booster (and a high chair that she hates). However, She has 3 grandkids under the age of 15 months (and another on the way in August)...so she wants something that isn't going to take up a lot of space, will still allow a family meal with the adults all getting to sit in chairs, and not have to invite her grandkids over in shifts. ;)

Have you tried IKEA? They have some cheap high chairs are small and allow them to sit up.

Chicco Polly Highchair... Folds up compactly and sits up straight. Has all the other bells and whistles for about $98 each. We love 'em!

This is the high chair I have and LOVE it. Its sits upright and folds right up for storage. If you click the interactive demo icon under the image and then click absolute slimmest fold link it will show how compactly it folds. I haven't seen anything out there that folds smaller. This is a great high chair for small houses and apt. I would recommend this high chair to anyone.

We purchased the Evenflo Expressions and they are reasonably priced about $60. It has three positions and folds up easily.

Our Evenflos (not sure if they were the Expressions) were way too reclined. We switched to boosters (FP Healthy Care) and so did both sets of grandparents. It was the greatest decision we ever made.

We use these table chairs. We have them attached to our dining room table, but have also used them on islands/counters. We love them. They can travel and store easily and take up little space in a kitchen. My kind of item!

Don't know if this is what you are looking for but I love my high chairs. They were $150 each, kinda pricey and had a hard time finding them but soooo!! worth it. http://www.rochellefurniture.com/high_chairs/index.html They are made of wood, can be what ever stain you like, easy to clean, tray comes off and can slip right under our table so they can eat at the table with us, when I don't have to feed them. One draw back is that they need to be able to sit up well on there own, is not a good chair for younger than around age one, but I absolutely love them. Good luck
