I'm not on Procardia for blood pressure (mine is always low), but I take it twice a day for uterine contrax. I had the two 24 hour steroid shots back at about 27 weeks just in case my guys came early. I'm still here, hangin' around. . .

I hope your blood pressure will behave! I'm sorry you had to even deal with the alarm.

I had high bp and it did land me on hospital bedrest. I did not get Procardia, but did get Magnesium Sulfate instead. I did get the steroid shots and my boys were delivered at 32 weeks due to pre-e. I think the steroid shots really, really helped them. They had no major respiratory issues at all. Hang in there.

With my last daughter I went into PTL at 33 weeks. I got a terbutaline injection, Nifedipine to take twice a day at home and I had to go in for 3 days of steroid injections. We had to go to the hospital in the AM and PM. I went to full term but in the way of getting the steroids it is good to be on the safe side-I hope your BP goes down. Good luck,

I had high BP. I bought a BP machine and kept records of my BP. With pre-eclampsia it can happen quickly in 4 hours it can turn sour. Sorry don't mean to scare you just to give you some info. If you are sitting with your legs on a foot stool and notice swelling on the top of your legs even more telling than the ankles. You will also notice the BP headache and you will feel irritable. I was admitted for a couple of days and my BP dropped down to amazing numbers. Why ? I didn't have to go upstairs in my house, didn't have to cook, I slept all day, the bed was comfortable..... I was only in the hospital for 3 days that time. I was able to make it to 36 + weeks.

My usual BP is 114/ 50 it was up to 145/ 95 and up. The doctor really looked at the second number .. diastolic especially if it was above 100 was entering very dangerous territory.

It was tough during that time since it limited me going out of the house and doing all too much to get ready for the babies. Each day and each week is so important for them. Best of luck for you

I was in the exact same situation only I was having a lot of contractions around 28 weeks. I had high blood pressure and they put me on Procardia basically to take care of both. I also had the steroid shots which were good to have just in case my boys decided to make an early arrival. They didn't, I delivered them at 37 weeks after being induced. So just take it easy and watch your bp (I got a bp cuff to use at home) rest and drink your fluids. Hang in there sister!!!

i had high blood pressure, it landed me on modified bedrest at 25 weeks (that and Jake was having growth issues).

Rest, rest! I was on my left side pretty much all day and as long as my bp came down, the dr. was happy.
