Hi I am a newbie! My name is Jennifer and I am expecting di/di twin girls in October. Last week (26 weeks 4 days) we found out that baby b's placenta and umbilical cord are abnormal and she is not getting enough blood. Her head and abdomen are 3rd percentile and her body is 10th. Her Nst's have been normal and she is showing a nice strong heartrate (varies between 130's-160's). Today we had an appt and we were told that at 29 weeks we will do another u/s and see how the her growth is and determine a plan. I am getting a feeling that they do not expect her to make it that long. Both have been completely normal (on the small side)up to this point. I am so confused and dont know how to act or perceive this information. I did get my betamethasone shot today and i have to tomorrow too. I am trying to look for hope that she will continue to alteast gain some weight and growth so we can continue this pregnancy as long as possible. I have been put on limited bed rest. I have been trying to eat a high protein diet and drinking 1-2 boost drinks a day for added protein. I have read the thread on iugr babies and it does give me hope (well, atleast up until i talked to my doc today) but now i am feeling very depressed and upset that I may lose her. My first was diagnosed sepsis after birth and almost died, now that i have read up on iugr i think she had it cause her symptoms are almost exactly what they describe. Is there anything in particular that I should look for? any ideas to help this baby grow? What happens if B doesnt make it? they told me she could stay in there until a was ok to come out, I dont know how anyone could walking around with one baby alive and the other not. Thanks for listening

Hi and :welcome: Are you seeing a high risk Dr (Perinatologist)? If not, find one. I wouldnt wait 3 more weeks for an ultrasound. I think you need to be monitored a bit more closely than that. I am sorry that you are dealing with so much uncertainty. There are many MoMs who have given birth before or at 29 weeks with beautiful, healthy babies. Dont lose sight of that.

I am sorry to say I don't have any advice. My twins were about two pounds different in weights, not a huge difference, but my baby b was significantly smaller. Positive thoughts coming your way mama!
