Elliot has never had a dummy (pacifier). He would sometimes pick one up and mess about with it but I've suddenly realised that over the last month or so he's had one a lot! Now he is having one going to sleep! He is getting his first molars through so am justifying it with thinking that it is soothing him because of that. He now actually wants one to go to sleep with! We're going backwards! Great. Anyone had a late dummy attachment??!!

Not actually a dummy, but DD was late getting attatched to a blanket. she was like 12-14mths.
where as DS was attatched to his from about 8=10 mths!

My girls have always been attached to their pacifires, but I wouldn't worry about it. I would try to limit it to bedtime (or naps) only, but my pedi said it's fine to keep them until 2 years old.

Lily has always hated pacifiers, but in the last month she has been stealing Max's. Now she won't sleep without one. We have them for both of them anyway and I keep them in the freezer because of all the teething. We are amazed that she is suddenly starting to get hooked on it. Of course the ped made a big deal about how we were going to discuss getting them off the paci's at the 15 month appointment. DH says he can discuss all he wants, if they need a paci to soothe until they are 2 years old then that is what we will do. We just can't see yanking away their soothing techinque so young. Why is there so many "set" time frames for things like this?

My oldest started sucking her thumb right before her 2nd birthday. What is up with that? Now that she's almost 3.5 I think we've finally weaned her off of it because I noticed that her mouth/teeth were shifting a little bit. The twins still suck but I guess we'll address that later...

One of my twin granddaughter is that way. Really could have cared less about a binkie for the first year. About 13 months she discovered it and became a major binkie baby. So it does happen.

My son gets more attached to his pacifier when he is teething, so maybe that is part of it. He has always liked it though. I dread taking away his paci. Absolutely dread it.

Mine have always had them, but lately they seem to collect them like they're gold. I have to put around 4 in each of their cribs when they go to sleep at night so they always have one nearby, and when they get up in the morning, they greet me with a dummy in their mouths, and one in each of their hands. I guess they always have a back up plan.
