My 9 month olds LOVE to play with anything "adult." And it's hard to find safe things since they put EVERYTHING in their mouths. Here are a few items they love in case this helps anyone.

    * flip flops (especially if you let them pull them off your feet!) They will play with these for 10 minutes every day now
    * paper cups (they are easier and more interesting to them than paper plates)
    * baby hair brushes (Since they are clean)
    * slippers (also let them pull them off your feet)
    * empty coin purse. They love to flick the zipper back & forth
    * small yearly calendars that you can buy for 99 cents at Walmart. They act like they are reading it for 30 minutes sometimes! and the pages are really tough for them to pull off.
    * tupperware
    * shoe boxes, diaper boxes, and the laundry basket. Put toys or clothes in them and let them pulll them out over & over again.

If anyone else has any other ideas I'd love to hear them. thanks!~

Mine love to "read", throw, and rip up the sale ads from the newspaper! I take them apart and crumple up some of the pages for them and throw it all in a pile on the floor. They have a ball.

They also like to play with empty water bottles (I remove the labels since they chew on them)

I had to go back and look thru my digital pics from when they were 9 months. Mine were just starting to pull up at 9.5 months so push toys were fun for them.
They also liked little wooden bird houses
Wrist rattle attached to the slats of the kitchen chairs.
johnny jump up when it was on the floor.
    shoes,
    Teething toys of all types.
    mylar balloons (supervised of course)
spoons with a metal cake pan
the dishwasher and the food pantry bottom shelf.

my junk mail...they love to yank it off the pile on the couch!
old remote controls and cordless phones - just remove the batteries
old computer keyboards - just cut the cord off...
    one word - tupperware!

Mine loved all of the things you mentioned as well.

They also loved to 'read' my old magazines.

thanks for your ideas! I tried the empty water bottle and they loved it.
I take empty tissue boxes and fill them with little things like swatches of material, ribbons, little finger puppets and other little things and let them pull them out and play with them. they like doing this alot.

It's the craziest thing  . I have all these expensive, "educational" toys sitting in piles in my house because all my guys want to play with is :

empty water bottle (big, big hit)
    tupperware
    remote controls
the telephone (have to keep it hidden)
the dogs dishes (my boys are a testament that a little dog food won't kill em  )
anything I use to groom them with (hair brush, lotion bottle, butt paste container, etc.)
the wipes box (its amazing to them that when they pull one wipe out, wahlah theres another to pull on) this gets $$
    the cable box fascinates them
and the ever present pieces of crap they find on the floor that I swear I just swept up 10 min. ago :D

Life with a 10 mo. old definitely is alot of fun (and work)
