Ok, so I'm 35.5 weeks and all of a sudden I have horrible hemorrhoids! I went through an entire pregnancy and delivery with my son and never had this problem, and now it is quickly becoming my worst pregnancy symptom ever. I am using the medicated wipes and the gel 4x per day. Anything else I can do? How long does this typically last for? So horrible and I can't even talk about it to anyone!!!

 I'm sorry you're going through that pain!! It is horrible and you're not alone! The only thing that really seemed to help me and make a difference was a nice hot bath. I would take a couple a day to help sometimes. Talk to your ob as well, they can help and they're very aware of this painful issue during pregnancy!

I am so sorry that you are dealing with this. I didn't have any issues with hemorrhoids during my twin pregnancy, but I had a terrible time with my second pregnancy. It hurts to walk, move, drive, or do anything at all. It was so bad that I was referred to a specialist. He said that normally he would recommend surgery for someone who had it as bad as I did, but since I was pregnant, all we could to is apply some ointments and hope for the best. He also said he couldn't do anything until AFTER I stopped breastfeeding. I was so upset because the 'roids were the worst problem I had experienced during either of my pregnancies. I did all the things the dr. said and they brought SOME relief. I felt like I couldn't ask anybody for help because it's just not something people talk about. Then I decided to talk to my mom about it. She is very much into natural forms of medicine and she told me to try Aloe..the actual plant. I was desperate and willing to try anything! OMG it helped me so much! It helped more than anything the dr. told me to do.

    Here's what I did:

-cut Aloe plant into 2 x 2 inch pieces
    -peel off the skin
-freeze the the inside of each Aloe in an individual tiny snack size bag
-Holding on to a small part of the aloe with a paper towel, Put the frozen piece of aloe on my affected area for as long as I could stand it.
-Remove, wait for a minute or two and put it on again.
-Repeat over and over until the aloe is defrosted
-Do it a few times after it has defrosted.
-I did it about 3 times per day

I don't know if this is something you are willing to try, but it worked for me. I am still doing it (not everyday, just when it acts up) because I am breastfeeding and can't do much about the situation until I stop. I have told DH that I will try to tough it out as long as possible, but that if it got to be too unbearable, I would stop breastfeeding so that I could have the problem taken care of.

I wish you all the best and hope you find some relief soon!!

I'm sorry you're having such a hard time! That sound just miserable!!!! I haven't had any 'roids but I thought I'd chime in on the constipated part since I suffer SERIOUSLY from it, and my peri is concerned I'm going to develop them. The only trick I've found to keep me regular with absolutely no straining is this:

    2-4 generic colace a day
    1 scoop miralax (it's OTC) a day
prenatal vit WITH alpha-omega oils in it

If I forget any ONE of these things, I'm in trouble!

Nope it's not just you. I had a mild case of it at the end of my pregnancy three years ago, this time it showed up early and has been horrible. I sit in the tub a lot and use tucks pads. Good luck.

You are definately not alone. I've had them too. I also find that showering or a hot bath helps a lot. I've even showered a few times per day to help calm them down.

THe gel and wipes are also helpful. I didn't have an issue with hard stools, mine were more caused because I am going too many times per day. Don't know how I got that issue when you are supposed to be back up when pregnant.

Ow, and I also found that sitting aggrivated them, so lying on your side might also help.

RJ2006 - I think that going too much is also what caused mine. I had the opposite problem in my last pregnancy, so I don't know what's up with that. I am dreading it, but this might be bad enough to talk to my ob about this week!
