OK, so people told me that post partum you can have some hair loss, but it is getting kind of ridiculous.....
My girls will be 4 months next week & it seems like my hair is falling out MORE than it was in the months past.
I'm not bf'ing & had quit taking my prenatals, which I know was making my hair really thick - so I am thinking I need to start taking those vitamins for hair & nails??????
I do have really long hair and my hairdresser said that it will fall out more with longer hair after children, but when will it stop??
UGH, hairs are everywhere & it is REALLY annoying & gross.....
did anyone else have this problem?????? (please dont say I am the only one....!)

i usually lose a lot of hair, a LOT. while pg i was amazed i would only lose about 3 hairs in the shower when usually i would get a little bunch every time i wash my hair....and it stayed that way till 4 months post partum--then: holy patolies! i thought i would go bald. actually, i noticed my hairline thinned in a couple of spots, and it was just coming out and coming out when i washed my hair.....it lasted maybe 2 or 3 months like that and now i have all this new growth where my hair thinned, but in the meantime, despite my gathering all i could when i washed so as not to stop up the drain, i had to clean it out twice cuz the water wouldn't go down. nasty!

so, to sum up: i started going bald at 4 months, but it's coming back now....hang in there and avoid ponytails!! LOL

Mine has been falling out too, it was everywhere and totally disgusting! I was very unhappy, so i know how you must be feeling. All up, it lasted almost 5 months, and all of a sudden, it stopped, and I sure noticed. It has been about two weeks now, and things are back to normal. I can have my hair out and know that its not going to be everywhere. I also had a haircut last week which probably helped somewhat. Im glad that its over, and it will pass for you too, soon I hope.

You are not alone! Mine is falling out in clumps too, it's disgusting. One of the thing I loved about being pregnant was thick hair. My hairdresser did warn me that this would happen but I hope it stops soon!!!!

Mine started around 3 months pp and has yet to stop. I actually lost hair during my pregnancy and was diagnosed with hypothyroidism, but losing hair for up to a year after pregnancy is totally normal. My doc said it was about hormones. I got my hair cut and it seems to help, but I think it's just b/c they are shorter and pile up less quickly. Draino is my new friend. :)

Mine actually didn't start to fall out until around 3 or 4 months pp. And it continued to fall out a lot until about 8 months pp... thankfully I have a lot of hair so it wasn't very noticeable, but it would freak me out in the shower. Gotta love hormones.

I broke down a month ago and cut all my hair off, I just couldn't handle all the long hairs everywhere. Somehow cutting it to a chin-length bob helped and/or the loss finally slowed. It was CRAZY. I had/have very thick hair. Now I just look like a chia pet if you look too close!

I was going to post this same question! Mine has been falling out for the last two months (my boys are 3 1/2 months). It's everywhere, in the shower, when I comb and the worst is that it's all over them. I find my hair on their clothes, on their body and in their hands. Now that they've discovered their hands I try to grab it as soon as I can.

I've even found some in their diapers when I change them

I will be so glad when it stops.

Mine is still falling out like crazy...I have long hair and I find it everywhere.

What's really bad is that DH had to take Abby to the ER a few weeks ago because she somehow got a string wrapped really tight around her little toe and it cut off circulation to the toe and it had turned blue. Turned out that the "string" was one of my hairs!

I'm ready for it to stop too!

That maybe why my hair has been shedding alot, I haven't been taking my prenatals. My hair always sheds but lately I've noticed it's been alot but I just brushed it off. I haven't been taking my prenatals because I ran out of them and couldn't get anymore. I need to pick some up, I forgot that that happens when you just stop taking them

    go get your vitamins!!

Mine started falling out around 3.5months pp and didn't stop until around 6months. I had long really thick hair and was developing nearly bald spots on the sides of my hair and my ponytail went to about the size of a pencil. It was crazy. Hair on EVERYTHING!! Now it is growing back and I have to agree about the Chia pet thing. I have all this baby hair about 2-3inches long. So just last week I cut it even shorter. In the end I really like my shorter hair, much easier to deal with and much less for the kiddos to pull. I will just be glad when the really short stuff catches up with the rest.

My hair has always been really thick, and lately it's been falling out by the handful! I dread getting out of the shower, because there are hairs in the tub, my towel, the sink, my brush, my body, my clothes.... My boys are 3 months old. I don't remember this happening after my first pregnancy! I brought it up at my OB annual a few weeks ago, and they recommended that I see me family doc for a physical and bloodwork (because of the hair loss - which could be a thyroid imbalance - and high blood pressure)

When we started fertility treatments for the boys, I was diagnosed with hyperthyroidism and put on meds. I'm still on the meds, so maybe they just need to be adjusted?

yep- I am there with you- it's disgusting- filling the brushes everyday, all over the floor- yuck! My hair was super thick before the pregnancy so I am not
missing it but it is still terrible to see it everywhere around the house.

My hair stopped falling out around 5 months, and now I have all this funky short, spikey hair where it is growing back in. It is right along my hairline, so it's totally noticeable, it's so bad I'm thinking about getting bangs to cover it!!

    It will eventually stop!!

I think mine slowed down at around the time I got my cycle back. But it was after that - probably 6 mos. before I really noticed it had stopped!~

No, you are definately not the only one. My hair would fall out by hand fulls it seemed. I don't remember having that with my other pregnancies but with the twins it was horrible and very annoying to have hair all over the bathroom. Once I read this post though I just realized that it has gotten a lot better. Thank goodness because I was started to wonder if I was going to go bald. LOL.

You are definitely not alone. I actually produced bald spots because of the large amounts of hair (clumps) that would fall out at each shower. I was actually glad I didn't have time to take a shower every day because it saved the little hair I had left. It finally stopped falling at at the beginning of 5 months post partum, so don't worry.

    Good luck!

    same here.

I can't quite remember when it stopped coming out in chunks (not really but felt that way) but I want to say about 1 year. My sister is also a hairdresser and said that becasue my hair is long, it looks like more than it really is. Whixh makes sense to me.

    Are you taking a multi-vitamin?
