Well ladies, I am at a loss as to what I should do about DS's overnight diaper situation. Every morning he is completely saturated on his whole front side!! During the day he wears a size 4, and I had been using a size 5 Huggies overnight until that is no longer holding anything. I couldn't find the Huggies overnights in a size 6, so I just bought regular size 6's. They are huge on him, and he is as wet as ever. I am so tired of washing the sheets and matress pad daily!! HELP!!!

Is he drinking a lot before he goes to bed? Cutting back on what he's drinking before bed is the only thing I can think of other than just trying differant brands/sizes. What about a pull up??

He drinks his last milk sippy before bed, then I change the diaper and put him down. He's not walking yet, so I thought a pull-up would be pretty hard to manage. Aren't they less absorbent?

I didn't realize that pull ups were less absorbant! I'm not sure what to do then :(

Maybe give the last sippy earlier, like an hour earlier than you are now? OR give half what you are giving now? Also, I wait till the absolute last minute before putting on that last diaper for bedtime, that way they can pee whatever they can out before bed. I had the same problem and that's what worked for me!

I think Walmart (or maybe Target) sells Diaper Doublers. They are kind of like pads that go in the diaper for extra absorbency. You might try those with the overnights. Good luck!

I also recommend the Diaper Doublers. We used them with the huggies overnights for a long time. Also make sure you are pointing his peepee down.

Same as pp, try diaper doublers in the size 5 overnight diaper. I have been using them on and off with my girls whenever they start leaking from diapers. I usually find them in the supermarket under the storebrand name and sometimes just a product name I never heard of. They usually come 30 to a package. Hope this helps.

In my opinion, it is the Huggies. I had major leakage problems with Huggies. We use Pampers baby dry or Pampers cruisers. They seem to work better with both my DS and DD.

    Good luck,

I have gone through this and have tried everything. Huggies overnights, pullups overnights, diaper doublers, etc... Finally, the only solution that worked for us was training pants. I went and bought some training pants at Target, the ones with the cotton built in and plastic on the outside... I put that on over the diaper, and the cotton absorbs the pee and the plastic keeps the clothes and sheets dry. I still had to wipe them down really well, since their bodies were a little damp, and I had to wash the training pant, but at least I wasn't changing the sheets every day.

    Best of luck!

Could you put a regular diaper size 4 on him at night and cover that up with one of the size 6's? Double diaper him? I am wondering if he is leaking because the diaper is just too big on him. Is it REALLY full in the morning or is he leaking around it?

    I sympathize with you. :(

Ditto on the diaper doublers-we buy them at Safeway. We also had lots of leakage in general with the Huggies diapers starting around 9 months-swore by them before that! Now, we use Pampers primarily then add a doubler at night. The only leaks we get lately happen when grandpa does the last diaper change.

I wish I had heard of diaper doublers... we did not like the huggies brand. We converted to Sams club brand and gave the last drink earlier... then got up half way through the night to change the diaper. Usually one or both or all three had cried by then anyways... so change diapers while up. The point the pee pee down thing also helped us... Finally, we started feeding more starchy foods like breads in place of watery things liuke fruits at dinner time. OOH, and also, I realized that the PJ pants were pulling Josh's diaper down in front causing soaks. So I started putting him down in a onesie PJ rather than 2-PC or just a T-shirt. All this combined got us through with fewer soaked clothes/ sheets.

a suggestion about sheets.... We layer sheets with "protectors" from Babies R Us. They are absorbant on one side and water proofed on the other. We layer 3 sheets with the protectors between. That way if a diaper leaks or spitup or vomit, I can quickly pull off 1 sheet and 1 protector and don't have to struggle to put on another sheet. make sense?
