We just swiched the girls to from the infamil gentlease to the A.R to try to help with their refulx. They are already on zantac and were doing well on it but they started to get fussy and show signs of refulx again. Doc said that they hadn't grown out of thier dose yet. So we are trying it for 5 day to see if it will help.

Well it is too thick for the lvl 1 nipples, so i had some lvl 3 lying around and i thought i would try them until i could get to the store. They worked fair. We were constantly trying to massage the nipples to get the nipples to flow ok. So this afternoon we went to the store and i got the "Y" cut nipples for the Dr Browns bottles. Those almost seemed too fast.. tho it got rid of the problem we were having about them not getting stuff out of the bottle. They are whorking down the bottles in probably less then 10 minutes!! I am had to keep pulling the nipple out every 2 seconds it seemed like to get them to slow down a little.

Will they get used to the nipples and slow down?? Or There might have been the possibility that they were over hungry they have been going 3 hours and it was 4 hours when they started to eat...so this might have been the culprit too, but anyhow they were fussy for about 10 min after they eat, i think, because they didn't realize they had eaten that much... They normally eat over 20-30min..

Help!!!! I hope that they will get used to this.. I think i would rather deal with fussy babies for another month when they start solids, then having to worry about them sucking down a bottle too quickly!!

I'm not sure if Dr Brown's bottles are the same, but with mine I was able to control the flow a bit by tightening or loosening the nipple. When we first moved up to a size larger I'd make sure it was tightened way down and then loosen it a bit at a time til it was at a comfortable flow. Worth a try. :pardon:

We used the "Y" cut Dr. B's nipples with the A/R and it took them a few feedings to get used to it and then they had no issues with it.

We always tried to get the boys to eat more, so I was thrilled when the Y cut nipples had a fast flow. I would give them a few more days to work out the flow on their own. They are used to having to suck really hard, but once they realize they don't have to do that anymore, they will slow down.

ok, im wondering if I have given it enough time, yet or if i need to give it more time. Feeding time is a NIGHTMARE now. This lastfeeding they screamed the entire time. I'm begining to wonder if this is even worth the benefits of swiching to the A.R. Formula. I feel like im at a loss...I guess i could call the peditrition but if i do that ill need to wait the 5 days that she said to try it. I don't know if it is just the nipple issue. ARGH.. I think im rambling. I'm a little frustrated today with the screaming fit. :(
