Hi, It's been along time since I've been on the board, who would have know twins could be so exhuasting!!!!!!!It's going to be a long story but I will shorten it. Noah(twin A)bigger of the twins by 2lbs @ birth and Zoe(twin B)smaller than big brother....this is my story. Noah a horrible eater....likes only his bottle, gerber mac and cheese. Zoe will eat the kitchen sink if you would let her. Zoe was an easy transition to whole milk, Noah had gas....kept on formula till about 2 weeks ago. He went on whole milk and was fine, now we are dealing with severe constipation...crying, straining, bllod with the stool. I am puttilng benefiber/miralax with the milk and even making homemade oatmeal with raisins in the blender and putting it in his bottle. He stooled yesterday pushing and crying but it was softish. My husband wants me to put him back on formula, enfamil toddler/next step. What should I do? He does drink water but is a pain to eat, Zoe I have had no problems. He has always been very strong and difficult from the beginning, colic, reflux....a crier. Please give any and all advise. Zoe is 23 lbs, Noah is 26 lbs. Thanks, Teresa

My husband says it is not good for boys, something to do with the hormones. I have never that but my husband always reads all these strange articles. Will soy milk keep him regular?

Justin would have diffucult stools once in a while. I would put a small amount of prune juice in a cup of water & it would work like a charm. Just a tiny bit was all he needed. I would end up throwing away the rest of the juice because he only needed it about once every 2 weeks. A small waste there, but it always did the trick.

Many foods which contain a lot of water will probably help his constipation (i.e. fruits like melons). You want to avoid bananas and rice. High fiber foods should help and blueberries seem to do it for us. You also might want to try Gerber's apple prune juice. They seem to like combination of apple and prune juice and it works quickly. Also, the blood in his stool may be due to the constipation, but you might want to mention that to his pediatrician...just in case. Good luck! :)

I have a Zoe, too! :) And actually she's my one that had the same exact problem. Even so far that I had to pull the poop out with my fingers, it was stuck sooooo hard. And yes, bleeding. I freaked out the 1st time, worried that she was bleeding internally. The dr said she was fine, but she just got so constipated that it was tearing a little & causing some bleeding. And, interestingly enough, it got REALLY bad when I switched from formula to whole milk.

I went online & did a little research & there are some studies that some kids may have a milk allergy which causes constipation. So, I switched her to Goat Milk and she's been so much better!!! I don't normally have a hard time finding it in the grocery store, but it is expensive. We qualify for WIC, though, and when I talked to them & explained why she's drinking it, they did give me coupons for it.

Anyway, she still does occasionally get constipated; I have to watch closely & make sure she isn't getting her bottle switched with her brother's (who is fine with cow milk). The other things I have to do are make sure she gets plenty of water! One pedi told me even when she gets super constipated like that, to give her some Pedialyte......you can get constipated from not getting enough fluids. She also gets lots of fruit every day, which luckily, she loves. I avoid things like bananas, apples, applesauce. Good things instead are pears or prunes. She also loves peaches & watermelon.

She can still have regular cheese, yogurt, cottage cheese.....I just am careful & don't give her a whole lot. I've been trying that Activia yogurt for her.....but I haven't been doing it long enough to see if it's helping.

The other thing that's really good for constipation - and this might gross you out! But it's Cod liver oil. I about gagged when I heard it, but I found some at the health food store that has an orange flavor - and they love it! I give it to both babies, since it's really good for them. But they lick it down like it's candy. Weird kids. :D

HTH.....for us, finding the Goat milk was a lifesaver.
