I finally got fed up with the the nap time party and have separated them for naps. So they are both in PNPs in separate rooms (not their room b/c neither wanted to be in there if the other wasn't  ). So my problem now that I've got them napping again is that they are not wanting to fall asleep at night. Today they napped from 1:30 to 3:30 (I woke them up at 3:30) and I put them to bed at 8 pm. They didn't go to sleep until almost 10 pm :icon_eek: . Of course they will still wake up at 7am. On the days they don't nap they are SOOO cranky and have to go to bed early, but fall right to sleep.

    So what do I do...

Is it time to give up on naps (and my sanity)?
    Do we move bedtime later?
Do I need to separate them at bedtime as well?

They are still in their cribs and I am planning to leave them there for a few more months.

    Help!

When my boys transitioned from taking naps to no naps, I would give them naps every other day, then every 2nd day, etc. Like yours, when mine didn't nap, they were cranky, but if they did, they were up late. Every other day seemed to keep them rested enough that they weren't horrible grouches, but still tired enough to sleep at bedtime. Good luck with your party animals ;)

We are hitting a transitional time here as well (age 3.5yrs). I ditto Ellen...naps every other day are working here. They just can't go a few days without a nap...they are miserable. Good luck! Naps do help give a daytime sanity break especially with a new baby...you need it Melissa!

I like the idea of naps every other day, or maybe you could try limiting nap time more. Say to one hour instead of two. That way you still get a little break every day.

I was going to suggest limiting naps to one hour also. So cute that they don't want to nap without the other in their room though!
