It is getting worse...the sleeping-thing, that is. My babies were sleeping at 5 hour stretches...now, they are not making it more than 3 hours without crying or fussing. My dd does not need the food at the night, but she just likes to talk at 3 am for about an 30 minutes, which wakes up ds. ahhhhh Help! They are up at 1, 3, 4, 5, basically all freaking night.

Here is their typical day schedule:
    6:30am - 4 to 6 ounces
    9:30 - 5 to 6 ounces
    12:30pm - 5 to 6 ounces
    3:30 - 5 to 6 ounces
    5:30 - 3 to 4 ounces
    6pm-sleep
They have about 3 -1.5 hour naps a day.
next feed is usually around 10pm, when one wakes up. Then, we feed both. Then, lately, all *(#*$# breaks loose. HELP ME!!! Please give me some advice or guidance...just a five hour stretch for both of them would be divine. Thanks so much. I know this subject is a common one and I just don't know what I am doing wrong.

Oh boy how I remember those nights! It does get better... just remember that...

My solution was no matter when they woke, I tried giving a bottle, for some reason it always soothed mine back to sleep.

    Hang in there!

Mine NEEDED to eat at least once a nite until they were 7 mos old... Growth spurts, milestones all of that can cause a need for more cals. I would feed them at nite!

  6. I was wondering the same thing, mine are up all freaking night as well [IMG] . I think all babies have a 3 month growthspurt, so I'm blaming it on that. But I think they use me as a pacifier, i'm breastfeeding. I would love a four hour stretch of sleep as well. I don't think were doing anything wrong , have you read the book Healthy Sleep Habbits Happy Child ? Alot of people on this reccomend it.

They're probably beginning to realize it's really fun to be with mommy and daddy, so they wake up and want your attention! When ours were waking up at that age, we would go in and put the paci in, but we would not talk to them or pick them up. We sometimes had to sit by the crib and hold the paci in until they would fall asleep. [IMG] It was awful, but they realized after a week or two that it wasn't worth it to keep waking up. At the age yours are, they probably still need a bottle at 3 or 4 am.

I think that they won't settle into a predictable groove until 5 mos that's what my boys did -- although mine never really slept through the night.

3-5 months is a funky time, there's tons going on developmentally and they are in lots of growth spurts.

    it does get betterQ!!

We have the exact same problem. our twins are 4 and 1/2 months and used to sleep beautifully through the night and now my daughter wakes up alot and wakes her brother. We are getting no sleep and are really tired and really nasty to each other in the middle of the night. We started to put them to sleep later. I don't really think its helping. Any ideas?
